Office is a.little way from the airport but.has a shuttle bus connection. Prices are very competitive.

Despite what they said on the website, Coolangatta DO have a key drop box for after hours returns! Very speedy shuttle, car was AMAZINGLY cheap, and comfortable!

Horrible customer service. Long waits, and they aggressively try to up-sell insurance and extras. Worst still the petrol tank was not full. I brought this to their attention when taking the car. They told me to return it with the same, which I did. They said everything was fine when dropping the car off. But days later found they charged my credit card for petrol and 'being late' (which I wasn't). It's been weeks trying to sort this out directly with them. Now have to do a charge back with credit card company. What a horrible experience and so shady. Avoid!

We were concerned given the low Google review ratings but decided to risk it because Atlas were so much cheaper than the alternatives (7 day hire for a 7 seater car). I was prepared for poor service and to face issues... but NOTHING! When we arrived at airport we called for shuttle but just luckily it was already at airport we were able to get straight on so no wait time (Advice to others - if you don't want to wait for the shuttle you could Taxi to their depot.. it's about 10 min drive max from airport).At the pickup they processed people according to how long they were waiting... we waited about 15 minutes to have our car processed. I think that's reasonable given the amount of paperwork etc needed to do it properly.Unfortunately for us (not reading the fine print) IF you book the car through a 3rd party website (i.e. not directly through Atlas) and purchase insurance - you are buying the website's insurance... not Atlas's. YOU CAN purchase insurance from Atlas when you collect the vehicle. IF you don't their disclaimer is that if there is damage, you have to pay Atlas's fee (approx $4000) and then go through the 3rd party website's insurance to recoup your costs. So - ADVICE ALERT - Just buy your insurance through Atlas when you collect the vehicle. We risked it and luckily no accidents... so no problems.The car was immaculate and fairly new. We loved it. (totally expected less given how much cheaper than are).Again on return - the dropoff was really fast.. they immediately checked the vehicle and again we were lucky the shuttle was at the depot... they took us immediately to the airport. So - all in all I am glad we took the risk because we saved loads by going through Atlas.BTW: i asked the lady at the desk about the bad reviews on Google - she explained that their previous bank had a processing fault that was returning deposits to a company rather than individuals. It took them ages to figure out why people weren't getting their deposits back. They no longer do it that way - They now just 'freeze' the deposit on your card (no money removed from account) and then unfreeze it after hire period. So those issues appear to have been resolved.

The office is about 5 minutes drive from the airport and we had to wait about 20 minutes to be picked up by the shuttle. They don't fit baby seats unless you ask and the man that tried to install it initially had no idea what he was doing. After waiting 45 minutes his colleague helped to install the seat but we were nervous about it the whole trip. The only redeeming factor were the friendly manager that served us along with a lady who had only been there 3 days who drove us to the airport so we didn't have to wait for the shuttle. Wouldn't use this company again though.

If I can give negative, not even worth 1 star.Will not recommended this rental place.It took them 20 mins to arrive the airport and then we were told they will pick up the drive first to the office to fill in paperwork then come back to pick up remain passengers due to too many pick up and they only have ONE shuttle bus. and they want us to leave small children in the airport to wait.When we arrived the office, the reception only 2 people, servicing very slow , eventually it’s our turn, the lady ( we believed was the owner) try to sell us insurance which we already bought from other insurance company, she told us we have to pay the excess first then claim form the other company. The biggest issue we have was we booked the car online (not directly through their website) . We told her have booked 2 baby capsules and she said it didn’t come through and said she have to pinched from other booking. We paid the balance and loaded the luggage in the car and noticed she only bring one capsule and told us to install it . We told her we need 2 capsule then she was accused me I only said one. When I argued with her , she was very rude . That is our problem the capsule didn’t come through. We were expected the car is ready with 2 capsules installed . Instead we have to installed yourself and waste total 1 hours and 40 mins with them ( from airport to leaving)Absolutely Ridiculous, I never ever to book through this company and recommended this rental company to anyone.Plus my $350 pre authorisation Bond, I am batter with them to get my money back. Go to fair trading and waiting for my money to be return.

The reason why I have given this company a 1 rating is due to their policy with the bond money held. I hired their car for 5 days and that was fine however after I returned the car there is a 10 working day period before the bond money is returned back onto your credit card. I am now on working day 26 with no communication from their accounts team and no bond money returned. I have called them multiple times to which their call centre is offshore and the consultants can only say they will urgently email the accounts team who will call you back but that never happens. I have tried to email the accounts team directly and no replies back. This is very poor customer service. I have now had to go directly to my bank to recover my bond money directly from Atlas but this can still take up to 45 days due to the bank having to do their investigations. I had other family members who I went with to the gold coast hire from a different car rental company and their bond money was immediately returned the day after they gave back the car. Honestly if you are not diligent in following up this matter Atlas will try to keep the bond money and never return it. Very dodgy and will never hire from them again or recommend them to anyone.

The shuttle took over 40 minutes to get to the airport even though it's a 7 minute drive to the car rental office. The car had tired bearings that made a grinding noise, shock issues when going over bumps. But worst of all we told them we needed to return the car early (5am) and they said no problem just leave it with Reddy parking (next door). No mention of a fee or anything. To my surprise at 5 in the morning with a flight departing soon, I'm being told I have to pay full day parking rate ($20) to leave the car there until Atlas opens at 7am. This was not mentioned or discussed or else i would have gone with other car rental company. Called their helpline and got no help at all. Basically they took the money and had the car back so they don't care anymore. Stay away from this company. Horrible car and horrible experience.

Booked a ute on Thursday to pick up Friday morning. When I arrived the vehicle was not prepared, tray was full of mud and grass, cab was filthy with fast food wrappers, assorted paper and cigarette ash strewn throughout and there were bird droppings on the upper edge of the inside of the drivers door.The vehicle stank inside. There was dried mud on the seats. Fuel gauge was close to empty, when I mentioned this to the staff member, she said: bring it back empty". I would have cancelled there and then

Avoid this car rental service. I had horrible experience with them, like a lot of previous people reviewed here.When I picked up the car, I found the fuel tank wasn't full so I asked the office lady to check and confirmed it. She checked and marked a note on the checking sheet. When I return the car a few days later, I filled the tank and asked their staff to check if everything was Ok before I leave. I told the office lady many times to make sure everything is good before I leave. She said nothing was wrong and even wrote All good " and drawn a smiley face on my invoice. She said " all paid
