I didn't visit the clinic as a patient myself per se, but I I had my brother visit because of convenience of the location plus his usual GP was unavailable today. My fatal flaw was not checking the reviews online before going.I am writing this review and constructive criticism together with my brother. Both my Brother and I are health care students, and from what my brother has relayed to me the quality of care he received was beyond apalling and unacceptable. He said the receptionists were cold, uncaring, subtly condescending and rude. He waited for an hour for his consult as a walk-in which wasn't too bad considering he was not a booked patient. However his actual consult only took a mere 2-3 mins in which he said the following:1) The doctor did not introduce themselves2) The body language right from the start to end of the consult felt like the treating physician wanted my brother out the door3) No effective history was taken and the physical exam completely omitted. This is not a spot diagnosis.4) Diagnosis not explained, medications side effects not explained.5) In short he did not feel like he was cared for, that his main presenting health problem was not listened to; and that he was literally given a script and asked to leave.I feel this is completely unacceptable. Even a business model that is centered around health SHOULD still have patient care and comfort as top priority. Plus there should be a standard of care to be provided by the service provider which the people working there should be held accountable for. 'Close enough, is not good enough'.My poor brother has had ACUTE pain and symptoms for the last few days enough for him to lose sleep and his appetite. He also has exams coming up and and in good faith I wanted him to seek an opinion from persons who I thought to be a competent professional. Afterwards he said to me that he felt like that 1 hour and 2 mins at the clinic was a waste of his time which he could have spent studying. And that's heart-breaking.I can understand that the COVID19 situation has placed a strain on the health care system, but quality of care SHOULD NOT be compromised.I don't know which of the doctors treated my brother, but I really hope the other doctors working there will at least have a shred of compassion and empathy for their patients - who come to their practice seeking care and answers for their health related issues.I really hope the RACGP or the AMA do an audit on this place. Because I sure as hell will be submitting a complaint directly.TL;DR - Do not visit this place unless you know who exactly your doctor is and that they have a good track record.

i have been to this practice several times for the sheer fact they take walk ins when it was semi-urgent. since going there i can see why they take walk ins and its never very busy.the Doctors are bottom of the barrel! there is no care or empathy to be had here and of the 3 Doctors i have seen, they all appear to be arrogant and act as though speaking to the patient is a chore below them.i would never use this practice unless my life was in urgent need of something..... and even then i suspect i would reach a critical stage in my heath care after visiting these dismissive health, professionals"!"

I have been coming here for over 10 years & today the final straw was broken. Though there have been many good Doctors over the years & the receptionists are great even though I know you always have to add at least 30mins onto their estimated waiting times. It has been a slow progression to make this decisiont & I have taken everything into consideration. Here are the reasons I will no longer attend... each time I go there are fewer & few Doctors & with the dramatic increase to the local population over the past 8 yrs the waiting times have escalated from 30 mins to 3 hrs. I work 9-5pm & get there at 5.30pm. Unfortunately they only schedule one Doctor for the afternoon - evening & he goes to dinner from 5.30pm - 6.30pm. So if there are people waiting before I get there my wait is usually until 7.30pm (if I'm lucky) or after 8pm (normally).Today after waiting 2hrs 30 mins (12.30pm - 3pm) I finally saw the Doctor. She was one of the rudest Doctors I have ever met. She sat there with her arms folded with an extremely judgemental frown on her face as I told her my issue. After explaining my issue she pounded away on the keyboard without even acknowledging I was there. The room seemed gaunt & sterile so I tried to lighten the mood by asking her how Xmas was, I barely received a response. Once she was finished she handed me what I required.I then advised her of two other issues. A frown came to her face as if she was thinking, not another one" I don't even think she heard the 3rd issue before she started writing everything up. She then asked me what physio practice I would like to attend & rattled off a list of suburbs that were over 20 km away before mentioning Ashfield. She seemed to have no idea of the local area. When I explained where I lived & said Ashfield would be fine she said there were no practices in my suburb. Indicating she wasn't even listening. So I told her she was extremely rude & she apologises. However after waiting 2hrs 30 mins & then getting treated with such disrespect I walked out & after over 10 years as a patient I will never return.I understand that the Doctor was probably tired & over worked but there is no excuse for her behaviour & disrespect. The practice needs to employ more Doctors especially during critical times like late afternoon - evening & ones that have better people skills!I'm sick of being treated like a number so I'll be looking at GP's closer to where I work from now on. This is the 4th practice in Ashfield I have attended & there are absolutely none I would recommend."

I would give a minus rating if I could. Had the worst experience ever. Hemalatha Birra (I find it hard to call her Dr.) was the rudest most unprofessional and clueless doctor I’ve ever seen. She has no clue what she’s doing or how to deal with simple health conditions. She gave me no solutions and mocked me for worrying about my health. She kept speaking over me not listening to what I had to say. Asking irrelevant questions I was sent home without any advice. The first time I walk out of a Doctor’s office feeling helpless. She has 0 empathy and 0 knowledge. Having to google everything. Didn’t even examine me.I don’t think this lady should be practicing medicine!!!

I had the most unfortunate experience with Dr Birra. If only I had googled reviews about the clinic, with so many negative reviews mostly focused on this heartless doctor. Someone suggested in the reviews to complain to the HCCC which I have done. I have emailed the clinic manager, who unfortunately is not a doctor, so most likely doesn’t understand nor cares as these issues are long standing. The reviews regarding Dr Birra stem for sometime. Dr Birra is rude, cold, nasty, aggressive and totally clueless. She has absolutely no idea. Why and how this woman got a license to become a GP is beyond belief. My biggest concern is that someone in a very fragile state of mind will see her and walk out of feeling helpless and lost with no support. Horrible doctor who should not be practicing. She is dishonest, but most of all has absolutely no idea with many questions I asked her, she has no medical knowledge. Please report her to the HCCC, she should not be practicing.

The reception staff is rude and unhelpful. They’ll make it clear that you coming in is a chore and a bother. So I took a hint and went elsewhere.

Worst GP ever. The GP who is an Indian lady was incredibly rude and did not prescribe pain relief until asked. This was awhile back, I did not even return to get my results because it's not worth it. There are many other places with doctors who enter the field because they care about patients. The wait is long, the service is terrible, go elsewhere.

This surgery is the WORST surgery I've ever been to. The Dr I saw was so rude an impatient. She also told me I could only discuss one of my issues, not both of them (I had to pick the most urgent) and to come back another day - no doubt to bump up appointments. This is the same Dr who told my mother she had to live with chronic pain in her foot. I won't be going back to this surgery ever again.
