If you want a genuine honest friendly mechanic you’ve found one here with Cameron @ Local Automotive in Northgate. I’m from the motor industry and was in time of need as a traveller through Brisbane and these guys really helped me out not only fixing my car but aiding with sourcing parts and much more I could not ask for more. Although I was very distressed it all worked out ok. Great knowledge no tricks just honest good service. I cold called Local Automotive when the alternator went in my prado, and needed repairing ASAP. The reception was above and beyond great! Cameron was very accommodating to help out even with an already busy schedule. Had my vehicle back sooner than expected and didn't get stung either - value for money. Exceptional customer service. I have been going to Local Automotive to get my car serviced and for repairs ever since they repaired my head gasket 3-4 years ago.over time my car had error codes popping up and the check engine light came on. not once during my services did they bother to look for a reason as to what the issue might be - happy to take my $300+ dollars for a servie though.I went there 3 weeks ago to again get my car serviced and to get my water pump repaired as my car was leaking water. i also told Cam i was having issues with my car cutting out onlly when i put petrol into the tank. His response was to get the timinng belt done - not sure what that has to do with petrol but i went along with it.I coughed up close to $2000 after getting the timing belt done, wheel alignment, water pump and service done. None of which fixed the problem, none of which removed any of the error lights. Annoyed that i wasn't getting anywhere with their lack of knowledge and for how rough the car was running i took it elsewhere.The next mechanic fixed all the errors (yay for no dashlights!) fixed the problem with the petrol / engine cutting out (purge valve replacement). Part of the problem was the timing belt was not done properly - thanks local automotive for your below average work! i proceeded to speak with cam to ask what he could do for me in regards to their substandard work - i was met with aggression and could barely get a word in as he proceeded to talk over the top of me. His response was for me to bring the car back in for them to check or he would organise a tow truck but only if it was his fault! i just forked out $2000 i wasn't about to trust him to look at it again and tell me the truth!as i had a very long trip coming up within 24hrs of being told the timing belt had not been done properly i wasn't about to risk taking it back to local automotive - so i coughed up the extra $430 for the other mechanic to proceed with the repair.This mechanic then took photos and printed a diagram to show me that 1 - the rocker cover had never been taken off therefore the axis were not aligned properly. the rocker cover needs to be removed for a tool to be placed to align everything. Called Cam who never bothered to call me back. absolutely disgusted with how he runs a company.if your looking for a mechanic that will actually complete the work you pay them for know and have a clue of what theyre doing - don't go to Local Automotive!shout out to ron gooley's mechanical repairs for going above and beyond with your service and repairs.
