My family first contacted the Safewill organization when my brother Lloyd died unexpectedly in Coffs Harbour last November and we needed to arrange for his cremation, among other services. Safewill’s mission is to make end of life services as uncomplicated and stress free as possible, a goal that was especially important to my sister and me as Lloyd’s next of kin, since we both live in the United States and are well beyond retirement age, and were faced with the challenge of settling Lloyd’s affairs from halfway around the world (Lloyd had emigrated to Australia from the U.S. in the early 70’s and while the family remained close, he had lived there ever since). We found the representatives of Safewill Cremation to be uniformly responsive and helpful, and therefore turned to Safewill Legal for the legal services we needed to obtain a Letter of Administration to settle Lloyd’s estate, required because Lloyd had died without a will.We found all of our dealings with Isabelle and Vivian to be immensely reassuring. They were always responsive and sympathetic and went out of their way to be helpful but kept the process moving efficiently. They explained everything clearly and answered our questions quickly and comprehensively so that we always understood (a) what we needed to do and the information they needed from us, (b) the overall timetable and what the next steps were; and (c) what we could expect in the days and months ahead. The fees Safewill Legal charges are quite reasonable and explained in advance as their policy is to charge a fixed amount rather than an hourly rate (and I was particularly impressed when Isabelle on her own initiative reduced the original quote when it was decided that we did not need certain services).Losing a beloved family member is traumatic and nothing will erase the deep pain. But working with Safewill helped give us the tools we needed to process this loss and we will be forever grateful for their help.
