The Plan Shop

I've been involved in the Planshop from 2018, and delighted to be part of its service. The designs are practical and client focused.The team is technically very strong, and committed to getting clients excellent results at an affordable price and building on the extensive project base across Sydney.

Very unprofessional staff, the office does not answer calls nor do the staff follow up even when we attended office in person. Basic inquiry in relation to a development which they designed which we believe is in breach of planning regulations. Obviously to avoid any responsibility to impacted parties as required.

Very disappointing and expensive experience. Planshop was contracted to produce drawings of two flights of stairs. After more than a month thedocuments provided were amateur at best, not to spec, not symmetrical, incomplete. Discussions with the individual and the owner of the business resulted in them 'cutting their losses and refunding the deposit'. So i paid them nothing, however i was left with a 6 week delay which had significant follow on costs with impacts on dependent activities.

The quality of plans is poor and does not meet minimum levels of detail required by Council. Will not return phone calls. Appears the business is closed and incapable of responding to clients. Owners response is spurious as they won’t answer the phone or respond to messages.

Their plans were totally unacceptable to Council as basic information missing. They have refused to rectify or return phone calls.

Simon was helpful in providing an honest opinion on how to go about. Prior to our meeting Simon did thorough analysis and gave me good guidance, was very professional, systematic, made best effort in exploring all available options. I would strongly recommend Simon (PlanShop) for all their Building & Planning needs.

I should disclose that I am not a client. I did however perform a full business audit of Planshop to determine the value of the company.I spent 10 days working in their office alongside their team and reviewed lots of their files and processes.I was impressed by the level the care that they had for all their clients. It was not uncommon that they were called on to help clients who had problems with their projects well after Planshop had completed their work (for example a builder had knocked down something they shouldn't have). This was done free of charge and a huge relief for the client. This is something that I would like to know if I was going to engage a company.Other things of note:They have a great reputation with all the councils in Sydney. To the point that many councils regularly refer members of the general public to Planshop. And Planshop is regularly engaged to submit DA’s for projects on behalf of the council.They have done a lot of designs and DA approvals over the years, through Sydney. I would guess they are handling 2 or 3 projects per week (over the past 10 years).Their designs are amazing and high quality. The main designer studied architecture in Chile and produces stunning designs that you would not expect to come out of a ‘drafting’ company.The engineers work in the same office and are not outsourced. This seems to be a huge benefit to projects under time pressure.Very nice little studio office in Surry Hills.In short, I would not hesitate to recommend them.
