Had a blackbird stuck in a tree in my backyard. I spoke to an operator who put me onto someone in my area, they arrived within 10 minutes of our phone call and were able to free the bird. Great outcome, I'm very thankful for their help. Was an hour total from when I first rang to when the bird was free so a speedy turnaround too.

This service is truly amazing. Help arrived in 15mins of us calling and the little injured possum was saved. So grateful for the support and knowing that there are people who really care about our wildlife.

Called up to ask for help about ducklings by our pool and the lady was very rude and showed no empathy for the situation. We are watching these ducklings get attacked by crows and getting picked off one by one. I understand that it’s a tricky situation because the parent ducks are there, but no other suggestions were made and the lady I spoke to was incredibly abrasive, uncaring and eventually hung up on me.

These people were fabulous, concerned and prompt to respond to my call for assistance and help to rescue the poor lizard stuck under my fridge. Super knowledgable and reassuring every step of the way. I couldn't fault them.

We found an abandoned baby possum today huddling on the footpath while 2 magpies were stalking it nearby. We bundled it up & called W4W who were so wonderfully responsive & helpful. AJ came out to the rescue & was informative & caring. He advised it was a ringtail girl & let my young girls name her Rainbow. Thk goodness for this wonderful service & volunteers.

Have been meaning to share my experience for a while now and I guess I was just feeling too deflated and disappointed to find the energy. I actually volunteered back with the severe bushfires just before Covid. I have always loved animal rescue and been apart of volunteer groups across a range of organisations. It’s what I love and what I’m passionate about. Unfortunately this organisation made me feel like I never wanted to donate my time anywhere else again. There was a call out for volunteers to help sort supplies being donated, however it was the most poorly run and executed experience with one of the key organisation members getting annoyed and frustrated at me for not organising bandages the way she wanted them. I have OCD, if you tell me it needs to be a certain way - I will most certainly ensure it is… however due to the nature of the setup and day, we were just plonked on a floor with a bunch of bandages and told to sort. No instructions on how and we did what we thought made sense at the time. After hours of sorting, this woman came along and redid some herself getting annoyed at us and making us feel worthless and as though we shouldn’t have bothered. Not only that - we had a million bandages to sort and nothing to put them in and after requesting boxes multiple times or asking what we could do next, we were shunned and forgotten about. We didn’t feel very welcomed walking in the door that day and my gut feeling entering turned out to be right. I understand people would have been tired, busy and had a lot going on with hundreds of koalas and other wildlife to rescue, however volunteers are there to help and are giving their time for you. It was clear no one knew us and we had decided to come in off the street to assist - yet no one took the time to explain anything to us properly or take us seriously. I’ve actually dealt with wildlife a lot living in WA and growing up in the country, yet I was made to feel as though I knew nothing about the supplies I was handling or wildlife at all and when I actually called a year later for help with a possum, they couldn’t help. I’m sure the intentions are good and you’ve done a great service to animals, however being kinder to people offering to assist and taking five minutes to provide clearer instructions wouldn’t go astray. I haven’t thought about offering my time to anyone since as a result. I have better things to do than to be treated poorly by someone requiring help.

W4W were absolutely amazing!!!!! I work for a government agency who are moving into a new 21 floor building in Melbourne CBD. Came across an injured Cockatoo on the level 7 balcony first thing in the morning and phoned up W4W. I spoke with AJ on the phone. He was super helpful and polite. Within 10 minutes Nicole had called me to organise attending. Within 30 mins, the cockatoo was rescued and on the way to the vet to get looked over. Great work W4W you are an excellent resource for our native wildlife. Nicole was super polite, knowledgeable and very competent. She rescued the cockatoo with ease. Great job Nicole!

So relieved and thankful that a volunteer rescuer came and calmly coaxed a wild mallard mother duck and 10x 5 hour old ducklings into a well thought out enclosure, and then transported them safely to Edithvale Wetlands. There was no way they could safely navigate Nepean Hwy, LXA works at Edithvale Trainline, Station St & over 1km waddle without help.
