this is not a place you go to for a decent serving of chips and fresh fish. It’s small servings and I doubt it’s fresh. You can’t pay with card and they don’t have basics like dim sims or potatoe cakes. The woman is rude and scorns at you. Would not recommend- poor quality product, poor service. Unfortunately not many other options in town.

You absolutely have to make sure you stop and get some fish and chips from here... even if you're straight off the Ferry and passing through! This place is the real deal. And real malt vinegar from the UK!

i get why most reviews said the owner was rude, shes a one woman team after all and can be busy during lunch times.seafood is fresh and well seasoned, definitely one of the best fish and chips on the island

Been here twice in the last year early April and then for Easter the next year. Website says opens at 4:30pm. Sign on door says closed for winter. Don't think I'd class April and 30 degrees / school holidays winter!

This is a hard one to rate as the fish is superb but the portions hilarious; see photo, 1 tiny fillet. To put that in perspective, you get 2 King George Whiting filets with veggies and a plate with table service at the Flinders Cages restaurant for $32, but at Fish you pay $26 for a single one with a bunch of fries.Clearly the ships mean that there’s plenty of business and it no longer matters how and how much you serve at Penneshaw. The food itself is outstanding though, hence a 3. Make up your own mind ;)

Chef was rude, waitress was scared of him. I asked for malt vinegar because I love it and read you could get it (from comment below) but was refused. Very small portion size and not fresh. Everything from frozen (which is kind of expected to be fair). The calamari was nice but not cooked enough and the chips were absolutely covered in salt (I hate salt) nobody asked me if I wanted salt, it was presumed and considering I had about 9 chips, it was far too much- I wanted to throw it away and threw up afterwards (but I was so hungry because I hadn't eaten for a long time and it had been a long day). If the staff were nicer and a few extra chips and no salt I would have given it a higher mark. It was super fast.

Relatively pricey $24 for fish N chips , but more chips when I didn't want the salad. Tasty.
