Hay Shire Council
We free camped at Sandy Beach and I have to compliment the Council on the condition they maintain that facility - and the young man with the long pony tail who takes great pride in maintaining the cleanliness of that area. We stayed 3 days and conservatively spent around $500 in the town - which wouldn't have occurred had we not been permitted to camp at that location.

Visited Hay recently, stayed at the Saltbush Motor Inn (great rooms - clean, quiet and well appointed) had dinner at the Riverina Hotel (excellent meals and friendly staff - the Bowling Club is also a good feed), wandered around the lovely buildings and statues (Railway Station, Council Chambers and Courthouse) and visited the Dunera Museum for Internees and POWs during WWII. Breakfast at The Convent was great. If you’re travelling across the Hay Plain, I can recommend an overnight stop in Hay.
