What an amazing place. Children and parents left out bus and played on the river bank. River banks are do important to Koori culture

Awesome! Guide was fantastic. Soooo much to see and do. Tour was one hour, could have easily spent whole day there and even longer speaking to them.

For such an important cultural landmark, the museum sadly does not live up to its potential in 2021. This globally significant site offers so many important stories and an immersive experience for locals and tourists, but the way it is currently managed is an embarrassment. We visited as a large family group at midday on Saturday of the June Long Weekend, only to be informed that we were fortunate to visit ad hoc, only because there was an interstate bus tour group booked for 1pm which we could join. For perspective: this was the big weekend when the annual Big Fish" competition occurs and "nearby" Longreach is booked out with grey nomads and winter travellers - i.e. "the busiest weekend of the year".It seemed like the staff were antagonistic because they were forced to work on a long weekend

Thank you for sharing your history and culture with us. It was amazing to see the fish traps and hear how they have been used and cared for over so many generations. Bradley was a great guide and taught me so much.

Come to this place, seriously. The tour teaches the Old Ways, answering for me some personal questions. The tour guide teaches about the ancient culture and the museum contains many cultural artefacts. Of great significance are the fish traps in the river and I could picture people of old hanging out and catching fish. Beautiful commentary, imagine.. if you knew how exactly to land a particular fish with your bare hands. It’s simple when you know how!‘We don’t own the land, we belong to itAnd we share it.’

Fantastic experience learning about the historic fish traps & a bit of Aboriginal history. I first learned about this place from the book Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe. Bradley 3 did a great job & the other staff were lovely too. If you want to learn about the oldest culture in the world, this is a good start.

This was one of the highlights of our trip, the museum itself is modest but the guide immersed us in the stories behind all the artefacts and pictures, followed by a tour of the fish traps and the community surrounding them. Really educative and the kids loved it too

Amazing to see the knowledge and experience from the elders passed down through the generations and now being passed onto others. The coming together of 8 different tribes in this area is great. It shows collectiveness, community and collaboration from many many years ago and to come.
