13 years in a row now for my New Zealand trips with Gvff Centre as well as a few drift boat trips a year and I can not recommend Antony and staff more highly - highly specialised guides as well as great teachers and fantastic company after the day is done - if you have a spare week - go the NZ trip - it is addictive - great friendships have been made that last outside the fishing - to quote a famous company “just do it”

Came back for a second day drifting this beautiful river that is in the best condition I've seen it in years. So many fish rising and happy to take the dry. An awesome experience enjoying wonderful nature made better by the nicest guides who are a pleasure to spend the day with....

After a few false starts due to Covid/weather I drifted the Goulburn with Anthony. It was a blast!!! Unreal fishing and the control he had over the raft to put me in all the best locations to catch fish was amazing. The only problem I have is working out when I can go again. I recommend it to every flyfisher to do it at least once.

I have had the pleasure of doing several drift boats trips down the Goulburn River with GVFFC and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. I have caught plenty of lovely fish on these trips and learnt a lot from the guides that has improved my fly fishing overall. They know the river better than anyone else and have provided an excellent service that I would recommend to anyone. Also I’ll add that aside from the fishing it’s just a fantastic way to spend a day and no better way to experience one of Australia’s best rivers in the very scenic Goulburn Valley. Thanks Lachie & Anthony for a great day out on The Goulburn last Saturday. Tough conditions with high flows but the decision to fish streamers really paid off! I still can’t believe I caught a 10.5 pound rainbow on The Goulburn; biggest fish I’ve ever caught! Not to mention the 8 pounder… I’ve been fishing with Anthony & Lachie for years now, and they always teach me something new. Looking forward to the next one already! Cheers boys! Peter

I have fished with GVFFC for a number of years now, fishing the Tumut, Goulburn and Swampy regularly, have taken their advice about the smaller streams in the region, bought flies and rods off them and even stayed in their cottage on the lake when they ran the business out of Thornton. But yesterday was the best day I have ever had on the Goulburn River, and I consider myself lucky that it was with Ant, the guide who first took me in a drift boat or ten years ago. Although the Goulburn is experiencing super low flow rates at the moment, especially considering it is two weeks until summer, the river was absolutely choc full of rising, cruising and feeding fish. Ant started high up close to the Eildon poundage and we had a fantastic drift down to the Thornton Bridge. 400 ML release rate meant that previous parts that would produce were bare, but other areas were lively - the ever changing flow rate of the Goulburn River always producing something different. Over a couple of hours of medium clouds, light winds and warm temperatures, Ant coached me expertly onto a range of different fish, some in bubble lines, others cruising the banks and little bays but most steadily rising chasing the emerging caddis and mayflies. Ant and his team continue to deliver a world class service - one unmatched by walking the banks of the Goulburn. Seeing and casting from a boat perfectly positioned mid river will give you a fly fishing experience you won’t get simply walking - and the ability to quickly drift to the next pool, corner or run in a short period of time. Ant matched the situation expertly - daily exposure to the river has given him a wide range of options - dry fly, nymphs even some streamers chasing some of the big ex brood fish that have been released in the past. A fantastic afternoon with a great guide.

The guys at GVFFC are simply the best when it comes to fly fishing and guiding the Goulburn, Rubicon, Steavenson and other rivers in the area - nobody else comes close. I was lucky enough to have a day of guiding on the Goulburn recently, and their knowledge of the river is nothing short of incredible. I consider myself a fairly experienced fly fisher, but the level of advice and expertise they were able to offer was really eye opening. Everything from reading the water, to new tactics, to local knowledge of trout behaviour and which flies work best in which conditions - it's amazing just how much they can improve your fishing.To top it all off, they're great guys with a real passion for sustainable fishing.Do yourself a favour and book an experience with them - you won't regret it.

I went for a drift boat fly fishing trip on Saturday 12th October and had one of the best fly fishing experiences I have ever had, a the age of 50! It's a whole different game seeing the beautiful Goulburn river from a boat and fishing from one. Our guide and expert Antony couldn't have been more helpful and knowledgeable, and a great guy to boot!
