If your up Barrington way and looking for a spot for lunch, check this forest out, theres a few tables, plenty of parking spots and an awesome spot to explore,

The Firs Picnic Area
An unexpected stop along Barrington Tops Forest Rd, the Firs is a pine forrest.Not so much diversity in the way of trees and plants, however this area is still and peaceful. Nice and shaded on hot days, it is an ideal place to stop and enjoy a picnic and take in the tranquility. The forest is very shaded from the dense pine trees so expect the temperature to be cooler than the surrounding areas - this is ideal in summer time.

Eerie, spooky, weird, freaky, stirring, picturesque, mesmerisingly beautiful - awesome spot that feels different each time you visit depending on the time of day, the weather, the time of year, who you are with, and the mood you are in. Go there by yourself and listen to the wind, the sound of the pines creaking against one another, the sound of distant birds. You will see a Lyrebird if you are lucky.

Worth the drive, accurate description on sunny summer day quite dark and chilly. Only 2 picnic tables plenty of space for more tables. Needs toilets.

Beautiful area to visit, however people need to slow down driving through the area when it's snowing and show consideration to the other people in the area!

Beautiful at any time of year! If you're visiting Barrington Tops make sure you call in and see The Firs, it's 5min down the track from Dingo Gate.A few picnic tables in a private setting is the perfect spot for lunch.Toilets another 10 min up the road at Polblue campground.
