Golden Up

A proper special fried rice...done the correct way and very generous. The Sate chicken...my God! The best so far..Spring rolls obviously hand made...the herbs! And only $2.20..they are huge and omg....no wonder they don't need to advertise..secret local place.Delicious.

Really good Chinese restaurant. Our meal was delicious and we plan to go back.

Only giving 3 stars because food was not too bad but if you want service don’t come here. So disjointed when we ordered banquet. They do take away over table service.

We had a banquet.The food was just amazing. Some of the best we have ever eaten.Service and staff were just amazing.Would absolutely recommend.

Not friendly at all!!!!.... They lady what took my takeaway order. I asked her how long waiting time and she said 20min, I paid over 30.- in cash. After 30 min I came back and my order wasn't still not ready, I asked her and she was soo.. rude to me ,even behind me people came new in and even they said wow that's very rude and loud. They lady didn't like when I said I'm waiting now over 45min ,she yelled out to me and even didn't apologised.Yep,they food was ok but the rest of it like service was very low and disappointing.Never will be coming back.

Really sweet Mum and Dad type chinese restaurant. Has a very neighbourhood, local feel.Service was very warm and friendly. The prices are great. And while the food is not my favourite chinese in Ballarat, is still very good.

A tip for anyone who want to give Golden up a try I suggest you ring your order in and ask about how long it will be, as they are always very busy when we order on a Saturday night. (Not every Saturday).Large and family size servings are available. Their homemade dim sims are okay but have a bit too much pepper in them for my taste.Staff are alway very polite, provide service with a smile.We always order the same dishes when we have Chinese, so I can say we have had cheaper Chinese in Ballarat, but haven't eaten more delicious dishes than those we've had from Golden up.However, we have had better special fried rice than what we had last night. ( It wasn't bad just a little clumpy).The dining in area is overdue for a facelift and people waiting to collect takeaway orders are seated in the same area as those dining in.I checked the website for shop hours the first Sunday in Feb to make sure they are open on Sundays and what hours they're open as we usually order on a Friday or Saturday night. After confirming they were open, I tried to phone in my order but my call rang out several times. I decided I would drive down to the shop and order in store. I was wasn't very pleased when I parked and found a small sign on the door advising & apologizing for any inconvenience that they were closed for the next month, until March. I sat in my car for about 10 mins out front of the shop to rethink what we were going to have for dinner. During that time I saw 3 other people walk up to the shop and try to enter before noticing the sign on the door.I think if stores advertise their opening hours on their website they need to keep them up to date. It would also have been handy if there had been a sign on the counter for a few weeks to let customers know the details of the 4 week closure.Thanks to GOOGLE I discovered David's New Kitchen, a Chinese takeaway I hadn't been aware of, was only a short distance away in Howitt St, across from the Performing Arts Centre. I ordered our usual dishes and although their homemade dim sims were larger and didn't leave a peppery taste in my mouth, the other dishes were okay, they weren't not up to the same standard as Golden Up's.

The lady at the counter was lovely, she created a very warm and welcoming environment. The food was delicious, we got the honey chicken, black bean braised beef, and the special fried rice. All were delicious. The origami lotus flowers are a perfect addition.I will be coming back again.

Simple, takeaway style, Chinese fare. Very nicely prepared, tasty dishes and friendly service.
