Learning from Ryan seriously improved my skills as a drummer and added levels of confidence to my playing. He’s really patient and guided me on how to improve on areas in which I was lacking. Whether you’re just beginning or at an intermediate level, I’d highly recommend him as a teacher, he’s awesome.

Ryan, at Curlew Drums, has been teaching drums to my sons for over a year. He is friendly, patient and encouraging, and has a knack for knowing when, and how hard, to challenge his students. Additionally, he’s an awesome drummer, showing what can be achieved with perseverance and practice.

My eldest attended lessons with Ryan for many years, he was a great teacher. He had the skill of building a friendly relationship conversing in my sons other interests, but also at keeping him on task and focussed. Highly recommend Ryan.

Ryan has taken our son from absolute beginner through to grade 5. He is great with kids, knowing when to push them and when to have fun and keep them engaged. Jack has taken over teaching our son and he has really taken to Jack and is still enjoying the drums.

I have two girls who started with Ryan from a very young age. That was back in 2017 - now one is doing grade 4 and the other is doing grade 6 and are still loving the instrument. Ryan kept them going and made sure that they still had a chance to play freely to their favourite songs, whilst preparing them well for their exams. They really enjoyed going to lessons, and definitely had a strong bond with Ryan. Overall, he’s a great teacher, highly recommended.

Having had musical experience with the piano and guitar, Ryan has been fantastic in helping me transition my skills over to drumming. The lessons have been very well-structured, and Ryan has been encouraging me along the way, providing me with great tips and helping me progress at a good pace. I definitely recommend Curlew Drums!

The instructors Ryan and Jack are just wonderful.Their pragmatic and fun approach to teaching drums has been a great blessing to my two sons, 11 and 9. They LOVE drumming!I feel well supported in my role as a parent to encourage routine practice and engaged learning. This overflows into other aspects of their life, like school music, and even (gasp!) putting things away. Curlew Drums - nothing beats them!

My nine year old daughter was taken drum lessons with Ryan over a year when he based in Brisbane and we were extremely satisfied with him. Ryan is a committed teacher who has many experience with teaching children. He motivated and inspired my daughter in drumming and for me as a parent was so happy to see how confident my daughter gradually became.
