We held our EOFY function in the private room upstairs and it was perfect for our group of 18 - we enjoyed the balcony space too even on a winter's day. Plenty of space, the food was simple but delicious and perfectly executed! Hosting by Morgan was also excellent. I would highly recommend Gilson Privato for others looking at group event bookings.

If I could give this place zero star I would.Food was bland. No flavour. When you go to a restaurant you wanna eat foods you can’t make at home.We ordered:Lamb cutlets, octopus and the lobster pasta.Please do not waste your money here. You will be only paying for the atmosphere. This is thanks to Instagram overhyping this restaurant for no reason.Lamb cutlets were soaked in oil, octopus had a off fishy taste to it and so did the lobster in the pasta, therefore it wasn’t fresh.

one of my favourite restaurants, visited countless times both day and night, takeaway and dine in. everytime: delicious. beautifully located and perfect for outdoor casual dining in the warmer weather, but also as a luxurious date night inside. it can be anything. wine and nibbles or a all out italian feast. i love their selection of antipasti which pairs beautifully with their woodfired bread. pastas are also super fresh, tasty and generous! don't skip their fries too, they are tasty and addictive (however i believe they have now changed to a more thicker chip than frites. their tira is also giant yet light and indulgent. honestly all the food is faultless. service had become slightly slower and less attentive in recent years and as its popularity has grown, but the food is so delicious and vibe so nice it goes unbothered. i always see a range of crowds and ages here, there is something for everyone. gilson is a must visit, and again and again. (these pictures are from multiple visits over 3-4 years and some items may not still be available).

First time dinning here. Went for a good time date night and right from the beginning it wasn’t a great start. Staff serving us was quite rude. Setting the table with anger as if someone had forced her to do it. She made faces and after she took our order she again gave that dirty look. My partner was fine with it because we came to enjoy the night but yet I was not happy for the fact we haven’t done anything wrong but were treat like that.Food arrived and it looked amazing. To our surprise the pepperoni pizza was delicious and so was the fires. I am a big eater and I love food so normally we would order tons of food but thanks to that one server( the women in last pic) we just ended up ordering two dishes and made our way out.Honestly food was amazing but disappointed with the service. Not saying all the staffs were bad but high time to hire people who genuinely like working in hospitality.

Gilson is one of my favourite places to dine in Melbourne! The service is always great, food doesn’t take too long and is absolutely delicious! The Cacio e Pepe and pepperoni pizza are a must! The prices are reasonable too.

Located just next to the botanical garden. Seatings indoors and outdoors. Friendly staff. Quite a busy place. The lamb racks were delicious and juicy. Flat bread and pizza was done beautifully. Very nice dough. Shoestring fries were crispy. Went well with salami. Calamari was crispy and tasty. The crumbed prawns were overcooked, they were too tough and dry. Tomatoes were cooked nicely paired with balsamic sauce. Overall selections were great.

Great food, terrible customer service, and poor atmosphere.Almost impossible to get the attention of a waiter. They look at you and turn their backs. The place is too small for the amount of people seated. After we walked out our ears were ringing from how loud it was.

One of my favourite Italian restaurants nearby the glorious Tan track and always full to the brim with beautiful people. I recommend sitting outside for optimal European vibes but inside is impressive too and complete with wood fired oven.We ordered a pizza and housemade fettuccine with tomato sugo and stracciatella and shared. Both dishes were delicious (pizza was on the salty side but not excessively so) and I contemplated dessert but we were sufficiently satisfied. Great summer venue
