Little Africa in Australia :PIncredible outing. Not like other zoo where animals are imprisoned in little spaces. Animals can wander unreservedly on a large expanse of land. Safari bus was enjoyable and exceptionally informative. Children under 16 free on weekends, Victorian School holidays & public holidays. Generally speaking an incredible attraction enjoyable to both young and old :)

Open-plan zoo in Melbourne's west with a safari-style theme. Lions, giraffes, gorillas, hippos, rhinos and zebras can be found, as well as Australian natives like koalas and kangaroos. A safari bus is available for short rides across the 'plains'.Be warned that the cafe has high prices and long lines on the weekend, and often sells out of some items, so pre-packing a picnic lunch can be a good option.Zoo membership offers free entry to this zoo as well as the Royal Melbourne Zoo and Healsville Sanctuary.

Been to a gazillion zoos but this one stands out because of nice pseudo-wild environment and great safaris included in admission prices

Great place for kids to enjoy. Highlight is the safari. For a 40 mins safari keep min 30 mins in the queue. Pack your food as its going to take easily more than half day. If possible get a trolley as you would be walking a lot. Many places to sit and eat. Water filling stations are available throughout the park. Toilets are properly cleaned and maintained. Very helpful staff. Early birds get parking inside park. Late comers, you have to find un marked parking far away from entrance but staff will guide you.Overall worth a visit

Freaking awesome for a 1st zoo experience! I've always wanted to go to a zoo and I'm soo glad that Werribee got to be my 1st! The animals were amazing! The staff were awesome?! And the food was a plus!

A lovely zoo to visit and explore, membership / casual entry helps support conservation efforts for endangered animals particularly the white rhinoceros. The safari tour is a wonderful way to see the open range animals with knowledgeable guides providing information and facts during the tour. A fun family friendly zoo with lots of extra activities for children and adults to enjoy.

It’s really really really goooood!!!! I love here! Thank you for all the staff in Werribee Zoo!If you want to see some animals, you can search on the website first cause there are three Zoos in the Melbourne and the animals they have are not all the same.If you want to take public transportation to Werribee Zoo on weekends, remember the train from Melbourne City to Werribee Station, you can only take to Newport Station and you need to take their bus to Werribee Station cause the train will be replaced by bus from Newport to Werribee and it’s free( you can ask the staff where is the bus station to Werribee)on weekends. So if you go there must remember this.Another thing is if you want to see Squirrel Glider and Tawny Frogmouth, you need have patience to wait it and the Glider is more hard to see, they always hide in the high place, it’s better if you have red flashlight cause it’s dark in their place.Enjoy it!

Great zoo.The trails are really clean, as well as the enclosures. Don't let the map fools you - the distance between the enclosures are close so it's perfect for kids outing and won't be tiring. The animals are well cared and the safari lets you get really close to the animals. There are informative and colorful signs, and lots of water and food stations as well as toilets. There is a wild trail too with a small creek at the back with lots of golden wattles which is nice. It's really easy to access by bus to get there, and not that far from city either.

Awesome place with tons of animals to see. Lots of parking and there is even a cafe. The staff is very kind and even helped us locate animals. Lots of fun for kids and adults. You can even feed kangaroos and emus which run around the zoo.
