Customer service- ranging from nil to rude to really dodgy- different stories from each staff member - one confessed business was bad so that was the excuse for their colleagues' rudeness. I can only imagine it's all catching up with them, can't say I wish them well. Let someone else take over, get some real antiques, & maybe never work with people again?

This place is like no other antiques store you will ever find. It is cross between a bazaar and gold mine! It has the most amazing stuff and some of the rarest things omg soooo much stuff I am never there for any less than 2hrs every time. The owner Rex is hands down the best dealer of antiques I’ve ever met hands down. The place is like a wares palace without all the pretentiousness! IF EVER YOU WISH TO VISIT A MARVEL THEN YOU MUST VISIT BLACK ANTIQUES! It’s like the 9th wonder of the world.Winter

There are many antique shops in the mountains but Black Antiques is by far the best. Whether it's the cutest friendly dog who can sometimes be spotted outside, the warm service or the huge range of eclectic and rare goods which are also reasonably priced - there is something here for everyone.

Had an amazing visit to this antique store! Such little and wonderful finds as well as larger pieces too! Really enjoyed the hand painted artworks as well as the vintage musical pieces too!

Very cool collection of funky curios and retro objects. Recently I've scored a beaut real silver ladle and a pair of very groovy old doors, both at very reasonable prices. Even provided free local delivery! Recommended if you're looking for quirky, unusual and groovacious fab-things.

We spent a whole day browsing antique shops at Katoomba and Black Antiques was BY FAR the best there is. So much variety - full of interesting pieces across all genres. You could feel the passion and love for history and antiques, something the other shops lack. So much knowledge and friendly conversation shared by the owner Rex and John. It was such a good experience that we came back again the next day & will drive the 4.5hrs to Katoomba again sometime to visit.

There’s quite a bit of interesting second hand stuff here, though not too much of it appears to be genuinely “antique” and it’s not very well presented – opening hours seem a bit uncertain and there’s a noticeable absence of a warm welcome and customer assistance - still, if you don't mind browsing alone, you might well find something unusual or interesting

Disappointing to say the least. I spent an hour or so finding some great old timber patterns. I paid and left the patterns to be posted up to me in Queensland. Weeks went past and I got all kinds of excuses as to why they had not been sent and how they had been boxed up and were ready to post. In the end they said some of the patterns had gone missing and that they were going to go bankrupt and that i should just get a refund. I asked if I could get get a refund one the ones that went missing and to post the remainder... no response...The stories were absolute rubbish. Although I cant prove it, the circumstances were highly suspicious. Basically they kept them and were wanting to resell them at a higher price- which is illegal. I ended up taking a refund due to the frustration of it all. They gave me an extra 10% which even makes the whole thing seem more dodgy.I liked the stuff in the shop- and at first i thought the people running it were cool.. I was wrong. if I could do zero stars i would have.

Place is TINY. On entry a young guy reading which, given its stock of tomes, perhaps thumbing thru another reassessment. A car back room provides an interesting balance. Overall, I remember soda syphons & islander art. Worth the traipse? Frozen daiquiris on a missing farm gate.
