The Emergency department are absolutely brilliant. The triage staff are caring, sensitive, thorough, efficient, and totally professional. Nursing staff are knowledgeable, astute and caring. They work in an intense environment and have to deal with every kind of urgent, confronting and challenging issue, and they do it brilliantly. So impressive!

My mother was transferred from her nursing home to Box Hill Hospital with end stage lung cancer. She was first admitted to Emergency and then to a ward. She spent her last days in Ward 4.1. Our family was at her bedside around the clock. My wife and I had personally stayed in her room for two memorable nights. The staff were wonderful. Every security staff, receptionists, housekeeping staff, nurses, physicians and chaplains we met were so thoughtful and caring. My mom received the best of care in her final days.I recently retired from my post in hospital and academia in Canada. I much appreciate the dedication and professionalism of the staff at Box Hill, especially after almost three years of COVID.My extended family is especially touched by the condolence card and hand written message from the Ward 4.1 team.My personal thanks to everyone at this wonderful hospital.

The maternity services at Box Hill Hospital are really, really good! All the midwives are doing a great job, and do what’s in patients’ best interest. A huge shout out to Midwife Tess for being so kind, caring and considerate throughout this very special & challenging time. You are amazing! Midwives Amy, Christina, Sally, they are all so kind and helpful. Thank you for everything.

My daughter attended Box Hill emergency section with a referral letter from her GP asking for assessment for suspected appendicitiswaited some 3-4 hours, well aware of the triage system and that patients aren't seen in order of arrivalchecked in after a 4 hour mateTriage Nursewhat you still here. I thought you had left. you don't look that unwellwe then waited a bit longer, another hour and approached a different triage nurseshe advised that my daughter wasn't on the waiting listshe was reinstated on the list and we took our seats to wait againafter another 2 hours and just over 7 hours of waiting and no public transport home we decided to call it quitswe asked for the referral letter back however after a 10 minute wait the advised she couldn't find itno apology or suggestion of follow upbasicallytough luck it's not aroundAbsolutely abysmal customer serviceThe patients are Not enemies

Shocking. My mother is there now but as a private patient should never have been there- but was taken by ambulance and then admitted to the wards. They denied her her normal medications so that she couldn’t sleep ( 4 days). They don’t have her medical history, and they are just shooting from the hip in administration of her meds. She can’t occupy herself during the day because there is no Internet connection for her iPad. She couldn’t find the TV remote and doesn’t know how to use it. She was never shown how to use the buzzer. Here bed didn’t get made or sheets changed for 4 days, when she eventually complained.I couldn’t visit her, or transfer her elsewhere because she’s in isolation.Somehow, she’s managed to survive the ordeal and hopefully will be discharged in the next day or so. Their accounts department even phoned me to try to organise a claim on her private health insurance to cover her stay. Yet it’s a public hospital!Only the desperate would go there.Edit: After her arriving home, she alerted me days later to the fact that her emergency buzzer was missing from around her neck. So the hospital has obviously taken it for some reason and sent her home to be in a situation where she was at risk. Why would they take her emergency buzzer? When I phoned them, they know nothing about it. They don’t know where it is and they don’t care. They took all of her medications and the container with her vitamins, etc in it. They never gave any of these things back. They all had to be replaced.A new emergency buzzer has had to be sourced. This hospital has caused so much trouble for us, It is hard to believe that such ineptitude could occur at a major hospital.

Recently had our baby girl at Box Hill Maternity, and the midwifes and the staff at the maternity division were bloody amazing. This is our first baby and naturally we were very apprehensive, but everyone we interacted within the medical practice were absolute professionals! Interacted with 2 doctors, 3-4 midwife/registered nurses and a diabetic educator over the course of 3 months, all of them were nothing short of perfect. Kudos to Box Hill Maternity in general!! :)PS- The reception staff at Level - 3 is a different story. But cant really judge our medical practitioners by the reception staff they have around.

I give 1 star because the emergency department was great every time we went there. In patient care is horrible though, unfriendly doctors and nurses. My mum had a severe ear infection and couldn’t hear anything and didn’t know what the doctors were doing and why. For days none of the medication was working. When I asked the doctor to explain to me what the treatment plan was, he answered ‚we are giving her something and she is not dying, what else do you want?‘

Our baby was recently born at BoxHill hospital and must say some of the staff are overworked and as a result are rude. They openly say they do not have enough staff. The doctors and specialists were awesome but the receptionist lot need to improve their attitude and behavior in a huge way. We also had a follow up appointment with the pediatrician yesterday and just because we were 5 minutes late for the appointment because there was no parking available and we had to keep circling around and wait for a vacant spot to park, the woman who was at the counter of level 3 maternity ward was really aggressive and rude to us and kept saying you need to call us and inform if you are running late. Please hire some pleasant staff who actually care about patients.

Was forcefully taken here two years ago because I tried to kms, (No physical injuries acquired)Wasn't seen by the physiological peeps for I think 3 hours, fell asleep at some point and my dad took me home at some point. There was no follow up from the staff. No longer suicidal, so there may be a correlation.
