Super love the thunder tea rice, I always go back for that. Also like the ginger braised duck and pork throttle. They have both Asian and cafe menu that suits kids and adult from all races. Their ham and egg croissant is fresh too!

What a surprise find in Deepdene! The cafe staff were friendly and provided great service. They serve cafe food plus additional interesting Malaysian hawker dishes, including yummy Hakka “Thunder tea” and Yong tau fu with Laksa vermicelli, will definitely go back to sample their other dishes!

It was a surprise visit and introduced by my wife. The name of French but the Haki food is amazingly good. Very rare to have a Asian and Aussie food, not fusion but stand alone menus. Well done. I'll come back.

This cute place is now owned by a sweet Malaysian couple. Probably the most authentic Malaysian restaurant I’ve tried in melbourne. Wonderful food, and relaxing outdoor seating. Recommend.

Really enjoyed our dining experience at The Providore.Service was excellent. Staff are very thoughtful, when we asked for sharing bowls, he not only gave us bowls, but also cutlery and a pair of scissors to cut up big pieces for sharing. So much attention to detail!Highly recommend their thunder tea rice, and pork trotter in sweet vinegar sauce. Tea rice was so refreshing. Pork trotter was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy.Their coffee is amazing too.

Great spot for brunch and lunch. The Asian (Hakka inspired) menu is the highlight. Some notable dishes are the Thunder Tea Rice, braised pork knuckle and Yong tofu. Coffee is good as well. Highly recommended!

What an amazing find! I must have driven past this unique cafe hundreds of times but only decided to give it a go recently. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how warm and friendly the staff were. The menu was interesting and exciting. There were the usual breakfast suspects but it was the lunch menu that really caught my eye. Their Hakka dishes were a pleasant surprise. I’ve never seen them anywhere else in Melbourne so this was quite a treat. The wife had the thunder tea rice which was a feast for the eyes. It was served with a strong herbal soup which when mixed with rice and vegetables was soothingly delicious. The textures added to the whole novel experience.I had the Hakka pork belly which was tender and full of flavour. The broth was delicious and I really appreciated the home cooked feel to the dish. The daughter had the Aglio Olio pasta. This was demolished in record time - full of flavour and cheesy goodness. What a lovely brunch in a lovely setting with lovely service!

The thunder tea rice is nothing like what an authentic bowl of thunder tea rice would be. The tea (soup) is very bitter and does not have any fragrance. It tasted like it was straight out of an instant packet. The stir fried vegetables were bland and oily. This is a very lazy rendition of the dish and I don’t understand why would an establishment put it on their menu if they aren’t bothered to serve it properly. $20 is surely a high price tag for this dish, there is also a lack of variety in their stir fried vegetables. Just the same tasteless and oily bok choy

It is rare to find a restaurant selling Hakka Thunder Tea Rice in Australia. I'm delighted to have found this restaurant during my getaway trip to Melbourne.Cute little cafe, friendly staffs & great food.Apart from Hakka Thunder Tea Rice, we also had Yong Tau Foo with dry egg noodles and Keropok Lekkor.

4stars for food. 5 for environment and service. Dog friendly.I liked the morning kick and the nam yue chicken wings. The dry noodles were good too but the hakka pork belly was a bit too fatty and did not look too appetising for my liking. Nice service though.
