Having trained Aikido in Japan for several years I was thrilled to find Aikido Shudokan and its teaching team led by Joe Thambu Shihan (8th dan). Aikido Shudokan has purpose built dojo facilities using high grade tatami mats with quality equipment that are very well maintained. I love the strong dojo etiquette and discipline, balanced by a friendly community minded environment . Training aikido has maintain my fitness, strength and flexibility, all whilst learning a budo from a respected teaching team. I now have my three children training Aikido, who not only learn a martial art, but benefit from the adult roles models who treat them like family.

I've been training at Aikido Shudokan for maybe just over 10 years - hopefully a testament on its own about how great this place is. Aikido Shudokan his literally helped shape me into who I am today - I'm fitter than I've ever been, more confident, and this place is like a second family to me. Do yourself a service and enrol yourself or your children, there will never be any regrets. Just be prepared to work hard, and you will see results.

They are a family oriented marital art dojo. Both adults and children are welcome to join. Affordable fees + dedicated instructors + great facility and most of all, a wonderful community to be a part of.There are free trail class offer for all. Highly recommend!

I have never felt so physically and mentally fit than as a result of training in the Oakleigh dojo: I am thinner and tougher than when I started, and also calmer and more attuned to the present moment. The dojo is both welcoming and strict in exactly the right proportion. The traditions of studying a martial art are taken seriously in a friendly and generous atmosphere. My only regret is that I did not find it sooner, though I am proof that age is no barrier to beginning. The quality of the instruction is outstanding, as is the support you are given by fellow students. When you study aikido at Aikido Shudokan, you are exercising in an environment that offers you infinite potential for personal improvement.
