Once we got off the skyline gondola we enjoyed spending a couple of hours window shopping. We had limited luggage space and we were on the last days of our cruise, so we had already spent all of our money stashed for gifts, but the gifts were beautiful! I wish we had known about this before coming here. I enjoyed the Empanadas and gelatos as well!

There are so many markets here (maybe close to a dozen). All my pics are in Kuranda, but I am sure the marketeers will argue of the specific name of each market...10am the action starts. And it comes in eaves as the tourist train arrives from Cairns. So spend some time here. You'll need a day. There are also many 'Nature Tours' (Butterfly, Koala, bird & Plane Wreck), you and the family will have plenty to do and see.Don't forget the gem & dinosaur museum. There is even a Put-Put mini golf course.Food stalls for every (and I mean EVERY) taste.Shops galore.A great Tropical adventure. Take the train & gondola Skyrail if you can. But car is ok too.

An interesting stop between the railway and cable car rides, but kind of touristy. The Koala and Bird parks are neat but kind of over priced for what you get.

Such a colorful and unique place in the mountains. I drove here and didn’t take the train so had time to wonder around. A lot of unique little shops from Japanese tea houses, cafes and massage studios. I really enjoyed waking through the market and the vendors were so nice.

Small covered market. Various stalls of mostly touristy stuff. Cafe and toilets. Only open Wednesday to Sunday. We bought some books but the older lady who served us acted like we did not exist! The aeroplane out the back (Geronimo) worth a look.

Kuranda Heritage Markets is a nice stroll amongst the beautiful rainforest. Sadly, the majority of the stalls are cheap imported goods targeted for international tourists that most of us don’t want to purchase. We did find limited locally made goods which we were happy to support and purchase.

We had lunch at the pub upon arrival so we were charged up for a good walk around. Best to visit from Wednesday on to make sure everything is open. Lots of things to browse through, so make a point of allowing yourself 4 hrs. to do so in a relaxed way. Do make a point to pop in at St Saviour's Anglican Church Kuranda for a quiet moment of reflection in this tranquil place located amongst all the touristy humdrum & whilst there feast your eyes on the wonderful leadlight windows when the light hits them & the effect it gives to the darkened church. Do visit Birdworld (about 1hr) & the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary (about 30-60 min).

Lovely stalls, you could get lots of handmade items here too. Lots of colourful items on sale. There's ice cream and slush. Don't forget to check out the plane wreck! The koala gardens are here too.

There's certainly nothing heritage about this place, we walked in and out in 5 mins! Most of the stalls sell cheap imported stuff, targeted at overseas tourists, certainly not what the rest of us want to purchase!! Don't waste your time! Cheap and tacky!!

Beautiful village nestled in near by mountains. Good coffee shops and plenty of shopping to do. You can spend hips of money lol. You must try Kuranda lollies! They are amazing and the Bird park is a must to live it!
