Anzac Day 2021

Burpengary Community War Memorial held its inaugural ANZAC Day ceremony on 25 April 2015.The most striking feature of this cenotaph are eleven poles with campaign ribbon colours at the top of each pole, representing the key campaigns and missions that Australian troops have served in since the nineteenth century.Although the poles appear randomly positioned at first glance they are arranged to represent their geographical locations around the world.At night the top of each pole glows with the campaign ribbon colours – making it visually effective both day and night.A tall glass panel engraved with the words of the Ode is angled so that each year on 25th April the rising sun shines through it and projects on to the eternal flame at the centre of the memorial (an electronic eternal flame in a concrete plinth).At the going down of the sun and in the morningWe will remember them.The war memorial is set in a level landscaped area in Buchanan Park, Burpengary, across the road from Remembrance House, the Queensland headquarters of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia.The war memorial is well maintained by the local volunteer committee, and the park is well maintained by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Since the revamp this memorial site is one of the best I've visited. Been attending services here every year, which have been truly inspiring.Bonus for me is that's it's walking distance.

Was a beautiful park lots of seating lovelySurrounding ,BBQ and tables,but toilets very disappointing needling of fixing.
