Venus Bay Licensed General Store
The food (hamburgers) were alright but we were peeved because my wife, with a broken toe, was sent across the road to use the public toilet. They wouldn't give her the key to use their toilet even though we had bought two bottles of wine ( at their elevated, drink-in prices). I thought liquor laws stated that if you can drink in, they MUST provide a toilet. Staff attitudes were pretty ordinary. If you can't handle hospitality don't be in it.

The lady sells off food whilst pretending she’s taking care of you (checking the used by dates as she’s ringing the products up, saying “I’ll discount that for you”, when the total is the most obscene amount you’ll ever pay for a handful of out of date products etc.). I’m so gullible I didn’t bother to check for myself. This was over the counter stuff. I normally check all the dates but it felt rude to check right in front of her. My yoghurts were out of date by 5 days! Disgusting!!! I hope you’re proud of yourself and the dishonest way you conduct your business!

I do not usually leave reviews, but wow!Be prepared for rude staff and a loooooong wait on food. Staff in no hurry and will get to you when they want and they make no apology for it. Was watching the lady make 4 ice creams, she took so painfully long the first icecream was melting down the guys arm, before she had made the third. Was embarassing and frustrating to watch.On the upside, food was nice when finally received it. But wish we grabbed food in the next town.Recommend ordering at least 40 minutes before you want to eat, even for something as simple as hot chips and even if not during peak lunch time.

Lovely service, the new outdoor area is a lot of fun with the games and music. Staff are really welcoming and interactive. Chips are a little pricey but it’s a tough market there so understandable :)

Awesome spot, great service and the food was amazing. Best pizza we have had in a long time!! There was live music the night we went and a meat tray raffle. Great vibe!

Awesome place. Lovely to sit and look at the view and have a drink or a feed. Friendly, helpful. Local (frozen) seafood. Tasty steak sandwich (gluten free). Nice breeze. Great lookout up the hill.

In terms of customer service, I think it depends on who you get behind the counter. The lady who took care of us was extremely pleasant and friendly but there was another lady there who was much more abrupt and not friendly at all so I can see why some of the reviewers had bad experiences.Our experience was great, though! Delicious food that was very reasonably priced and great customer service in our case!

We stopped off in VB for a quick leg stretch and to take in the beautiful water views. We were very happy to find the general store had friendly service, good espresso coffee and also carries range of canned Boss coffee options. If we had more time we would have tried something to eat out front with the water view. The pelican sculpture was great too!

Visited the store on the weekend and owner was rude for no apparent reason. All prices are way too high, food badly cooked, don’t go in if you have sandy feet, it’s an old beach general store not a restaurant/pub or fancy cafe so I don’t know why they think you won’t have sandy feet, happily yells and swears in front of kids for not dusting off the sand. Poor performance all round. Caravan park kiosk was 100% better service and they understand that sandy feet happens at the beach.
