IMHO, this and the rainbow serpent mural on the wall of the 7-Eleven in Dumaresq Street are the only parts of the recent Queen Street beautification project that are actually things of beauty. The rest of it looks cheap, tacky, cheesy, even tawdry. I'm quite taken with the colour palette employed here, more vibrant colours used on such a large project may have been a little overwhelming.I happened to be in the area just before 11am on a crisp, sunny, winter's morning. This appears to be an ideal time of the day to photograph this mural, the lighting was near ideal, save for a shadow of a lamp post. I did notice one small graffiti tag on part of it, another example of why we can't have nice things. Visit it now, before it suffers the effects of the weather and vandals.

What a joy to discover beautiful public art murals have transformed the dull dreary grey paint on the rear wall of the old Spotlight building, to a bright elegant mosaic of nature.Congratulations to all involved for such positive steps to revitalizing this area.I recommend people come visit this street so they can experience the delight of seeing this public art for themselves.
