Dog Beach
Beautiful location with convenient facilities. Quite busy, but plenty of space for every human and pup! The sand is filled with small, pointy fragments of shells. They don't hurt to walk on, but it does make the texture of the sand quite rough. The sand is also very loose, and it is quite difficult to walk on, even close to the water. If you have mobility issues, i would recommend taking it slow, and having someone there to balance with as you walk. This is a paradise for dogs, and dog people! So beautiful at sunset and convenient with the trams right there. PTV's website is worded in a confusing way, so i learnt the hard way: dogs are not allowed on trams unless they are in an enclosed carrier! If you are able to put your small-medium sized dog in a travel crate or soft mesh carrier, you will be able to take them on the tram. Some tram drivers are very understanding and cool, and will not kick you off, but others will take no issue with calling you out over the loudspeaker and asking you to leave. It's a 50/50 split, so don't take your chances!Toilets are available maybe 100m from the dog beach, but toilet paper and soap are often not available. The larger disabled toilet in the women's cubicle does not lock or latch, only the single, smaller cubicle locks. Make sure to use the bathroom on your way to the beach to avoid any waiting in lines! cold shower and drinking water is available nearby too. Paid parking is available, but busy and likely full during peak. Best option is the trams which come every 10 minutes. worth the trip! overall a lovely atmosphere, just make sure there are no car enthusiast meets planned for the duration of your visit. The car meets were on as we visited, and were very loud. Police were out in full force, and the air soon smelt of engine smoke. The cars were awesome though, so that was a plus!

Always a clean, lovely beach. Lots of dogs around, but all owners were very conscientious about keeping them well behaved!

I was in port Melbourne beach taking photos and later Google asked upload the photo from dog beach...I could surely see alot of dogs in the beach that's for sure, might be it was the reason for calling it dog fish ..this place is lovely and I meet a lot of fisherman, they pay to the Victorian state for fishing in the sea...I talk to them, watch the sea, birds and learn about the catching the fish...this place taught me alot, going to the beach was a fun experience and I surely learn alot about fishing and to catch the fish...

A dog's freedom and happy place to run around. Perfect place for all seasons. Nearby walking track and take away areas so your dog can dry before getting into the car. Beach was clean on the day we went.

It's great that it's a dog friendly beach all year round and is close to the city. It had a nice adjacent walk that you can take to get your dog here. But other than that the beach is less of a nicer quality than the surrounding beaches. The sand isn't as clean and soft and the area isn't particular nice for swimming.

Visited the beach with my friend and her two corgis. Pet friendly beach, but not the best beach in town. Great place to hangout with family and friends if you have furry companions.
