Short, steep descent but well worth it. Continue on to picturesque Mitchell River and gradual return via Bluff lookout. Saw a lyrebird and king parrots. Lovely remnant rainforest.

Mitchell River National Park has some beautiful sights but the Den of Nargun is truly magnificent.Early parts of the walk are gentle but it gets steep and a little treacherous as the path takes you onto some rocky bits down the hill. It helps to have decent shoes with good tread, especially in wet weather. The walk was deserted when I visited so I could take my time up and down the path but it might get a little crowded if there were more than a few visitors on the narrow rocky path down the hill. There are other walks in the immediate area but none quite as lovely.Highly recommended.

So nice and peaceful, a big walk down and steep back up

Such a peaceful and quiet spot with the sound sheltered by the surrounding rocks. There are hundreds of lizards hiding around the track, I saw one snake in the lower area and a goanna. Make sure to have water and good shoes, be careful for wildlife crossing the road on the drive in.

Beautiful place for a picnic and walk. There are toilets, picnic tables, fire pits and a shelter at the carpark, and benches to rest on along the track. There are usually plenty of lizards in the summer. Recommend visiting after rainfall when Woolshed creek is flowing.

A magical place to visit. Wear good footwear as the track is very rocky and uneven. A fair level of fitness is required, as it is steep coming back up from the Den. I was also greeted by 3 lace monitors on return to the carpark. Well worth the walk. Visited 21st March, 2022

One of the coolest places to explore! We went out hiking on a wet rainy day and explored the national park with the family. It was so worth the trip and though it was a long hike with a lot of slippery tracks, it was gorgeous!Den of Nargun was insanely beautiful with a flowing waterfall along with another waterfall back along the tracks loop. There was practically no one around due to the weather so it was like having this place to ourselves. If you’re going with family and young kids go up and down the same path you arrive via as the full loop requires some crossings over fallen trees that young ones may struggle with. However if you’re doing the full loop make sure you stop at the cliff and get the full look out experience at the top. Before heading to the car park for lunch.

Very steep (wear grippy shoes!) but a short walk and the valley is breathtakingly beautiful. We spent lots of time exploring and taking pictures. Great to learn more of site and stories significant in Aboriginal culture.

It's a stunning place indeed. We walked to the Den with the kids and had no idea how dangerous it will be. Difficulty level should be mentioned somewhere. It says that it could be steep but didn't advise about the rough path with huge rocks. It could be pretty slippery after rain or heavy dew. If you are taking your kids, please check the weather beforehand.I am not discouraging it at all. It's a magnificent place to visit with kids. Kids should know how to take calculated risks.

Went on a semi drizzly day. Very muddy and slippery in some parts and the initial walk down to the Den quite steep with sheer drop! Recommend sensible footwear regardless! Such a peaceful walk but quite hilly. Great way to spend half a day!
