The highlight for me on our trip to the Hunter.We went to 16 different Cellar Doors and McCaffrey's was my favourite.Their wine is exceptional. I found their Semillion to be the closest to a Chardonnay out of all the Semillion I tried on the trip (which was a lot!) but it still managed to retain the freshness of a Sauvignon Blanc. Quite special, not a citrus bonanza but also not a butter emulsion. Their other wines are also superb. Their Shiraz will stand out even on a day of drinking hundreds of them from other places.McCaffrey's wines are the reason to visit but the story is also worth listening to. Declan & Danielle have actually pulled the trigger on every other corporate desk jockey's vision of escaping the big smoke and crafting something that they can be proud of.There were several very jealous members of our group who were quite keen to follow suit but it's easy to think that way and much harder to actually do it. So hats off to the McCaffrey's for making the leap and an even bigger nod to the incredible wine they're now making.

We stopped in at McCaffrey's Estate during a wine tour this week and I 100% recommend putting it on your list when you visit the Hunter Valley! Mel & Declan were amazing hosts, very caring & knowledgeable and I loved hearing the stories behind some of names of their wines!

McCaffrey's Estate is in such a lovely spot. The staff and owners are so welcoming and knowledgeable about their wines and locations. Would definitely recommend trying some of their amazing wines in their cosy cellar door.

Family friendly, beautiful surrounds, winery at location. Duck and goose pen at the back which we fed daily with kids. Lovely cottage feel with fireplace. This was our second visit to Merlot cottage and we will be back, thank you Declan and Danielle!

Wonderful cottage with Danielle being the perfect host. Plenty of goodies left for breakfast. We couldn’t have stayed in a better place for a family wedding.

We stayed at the Cabernet Cottage for a retreat we hosted nearby. The accommodation is excellent, beautiful location, spotless and very well appointed. We also had a wine tasting for 20 which was great too. Danielle, Declan and Mel couldn't have been better hosts, thoroughly recommended.

We went for a tasting at McCaffrey's Estate and it was the best I've been to in Hunter. Declan was a first class host giving us great information about their wines and answering our questions. The kids were welcomed and made comfortable. The pours were generous.Enough of that, the wines: the McCaffrey's wines were very good. Their Shiraz was really good as was the Cabernet Franc. Their other reds we're really good too.The overall experience of visiting this estate was first class. I would recommend this place to anyone.

These guys go above and beyond. Such a comfortable setting and the wines are delicious. They are friendly and accommodating. Very knowledgeable regarding the grape/wine making process.Steve and Declan are legends.

Great to visit this new boutique wine maker. Best wine we had during our stay in the Hunter. Declan and Danielle are super friendly and knowledgeable. Was great to hear the story behind their wines. Very scenic vineyard, hoping to come back one day and stay in one of their cabins.
