It was just thirty years ago Cooktown was a tough place to get to......and twice as hard to get south again. Now we enjoy tar sealed roads which made Cooktown evolve to who it is today. (A fantastic place in fnq)

Be sure to visit Cooktown in FNQ. Steeped in history great views and great food. However book for caravan parks in the dry season as they get very busy. Free camp now at racecourse.

Worth coming here in cooktown to see where Cptn Cook set foot on our soil. If you have driven up here from anywhere you have driven a long way so make the most of it. Soak up the history and learn about what really happened here and what still goes on today. There's plenty to see and do just ask the locals they are more than happy to help with information.
