My mum passed away last year. It was sad and emotional times. Karin lovingly took care of my mums funeral and cremation arrangements so professionally that we all felt relieved and blessed.She is like a caring family member. Prior to Karin entering our home, I was able to discuss, plan and partly realise the procedures of having a personal service for my husband, Michael, all by email, as Michael was at end of life stage. Karin entered ourhome as a stranger, and left as a friend.Michael didn't want a fuss made over him and this was our theme for his Celebration of Life,. Karin made this memorial an uplifting , tribute to Michael, with his personality and gentleness , his joy of being a cyclist the feature of our Celebration.I know even HE enjoyed his Celebration as were were given a most beautiful rainbow ( our personal sign) towards the closing of the Celebration.Thank You Karin for easing our way along this grief stricken, emotional pathway that we needed to take to say goodbye

Karin mentioned at one point that we (the family) seem to have 'got it' in terms of having an appropriate farewell for my Dad. But I have to say that Karin also 'got it'. Nothing was too much trouble and there were a couple of suggestions (re location and transport hearse - a motorbike in our case), that proved perfect for all of Dad's kids, grandkids and great grandkids to have a most memorable day. The sadness of the day was swamped by being able to properly honour my awesome Dad. And at a reasonable cost as well. Thanks Karin.

When our Mum passed away at the amazing age of 102 years we were shocked even though we knew her death was looming. We contacted Funerals By Design as we had done some research and thought this company would be the one for us, and indeed it was. Karin was warm, kind and friendly. She took us by the hands and arranged a private cremation and then a week later we had a Memorial Service/Wake at Bilgola Beach Surf Club. Karin was so on board with what we wished - celebrating a life well lived. She helped us put together a beautiful Memories Table with all the things that were so special to our Mum, and co-ordinated our Mum’s life in pictures presentation. She took care of the food, beverages and venue setup. It is wonderful to be able to rely on someone like Karin at a time like this. Thank you Karin and your team.Jeanette and Christine

A lovely, personable and transparent service. Staff were lovely. The funeral Director was up front about costs & choices, was very flexible with making time for us. For a family of 10 children, she was exceptional at navigating everyone’s needs. At a difficult time it is very reassuring to be guided through this process by someone kind, helpful & knowledgeable.Highly recommend this wonderful service.

I was completely lost as to what to do in organising my later fathers funeral as I have never had any knowledge of what to do, where to start, what it should cost. Then I spoke to Karin and all of my fear, worry and concern left me. She reached out like a friend with true empathy and sympathy for my position and with the utmost sincerity held my held through the whole process. Not only did Karin guide me and take matters under her own wing like it was her own Dad, Karin educated me on a broken industry that was geared to make maximum profit.This wasn't the case with Karin and funerals by design, quite the opposite in fact.The personal touch, honesty and amazing attention to detail is the basic benchmark for Karin and her team.Karin with all of my Heart and that of my Family, Thank You!

Karin really puts her heart and soul into her business, she's complete compassion and generosity and love. It was so what we needed to go through this gruelling funeral process for our mum, she gave my sister and I support and direction with affection and humour and just enough crazy. She's so passionate about making the ceremony something unique and special and stress free, that she's written a book about it - which is as beautiful and genuine as she is. Highly recommended.
