Milkwood Lodge
Beautiful rainforest setting, wide variety of wildlife, from butterflies to pythons to Wallabies. Lovely, fairly basic timber house accommodation. Nice pool and BBQ area. Lovely owner with three friendly dogs. Close to town.

Milkwood Lodge
Lovely spacious room and balcony, just outside the town, very peaceful. BBQ at night by the pool. Sharon was a fabulous host , nurse midwife, lodge owner very busy, and soon to be grandmother but always happy to help. Would certainly recommend this little slice of luxury

Milkwood Lodge
Milkwood Lodge excelled our expectations, its well maintained cabins set in manicured tropical tiered gardens. Well-appointed interiors with all conveniences, a large comfy bed with quality linen. Milkwood is set on the edge of town and staff and owners are friendly and keen to assist. We will definitely revisit when heading to Cooktown again.

Amazing place, quiet and perfect to catch up on sleep after a long journey. The owners are lovely and went above and beyond to look after us.

Our family stayed in Cabin 5 at Milkwood Lodge for two nights during our recent trip to Far North Queensland - and we loved everything about our stay. The lodge is located in a beautiful, quiet, and secluded setting just outside of the town. Even though we were just a very convenient 2-minute drive from the cafe's, restaurants, and the Cooktown esplanade, we felt like we were in a different world, lost to the outside, nestled in this beautiful rainforest retreat. We were greeted upon arrival by the very lovely and warm owners, who were so hospitable for the whole length of our stay, and interacted with us whenever we bumped into each other. The gardens and surrounds are exceptionally maintained, and you can tell that the owners put in a lot of love and care into Milkwood Lodge. I have to also mention that their three dogs were adorable! It was great to get Cabin 5 as the parking spot was adjacent - would definitely suggest Cabin 5 or 6 for the views, as well as parking arrangements. The timber cabin itself is spectacular - better than the photos. It was spotlessly clean, well thought out, and the attention to detail was great to see, particularly the little vanity nook, and the timber shelves along the edges to keep your keys, phone etc, which was a great design feature. The cabin is well stocked - from the bed linen, to the towels, to all the amenities in the kitchenette. We loved the selections of the fans and lights in the cabin as well. But it was the view from the cabin that was the highlight. It was a delight to wake up to the lush landscape and have some of our meals on the deck, from where we could see horses, all kids of birds, and some frogs. We also made friends with Roger, the resident peacock, who came and visited us on the deck every day. He even left us one of his feathers, which we ended up bringing back with us to Sydney to remember him by!The kids really enjoyed the pool as well. All in all, I am so glad to have made the decision to add Cooktown to our FNQ itinerary, and moreover, to have stayed at Milkwood Lodge. We left with wonderful memories, and we would recommend for anyone visiting Cooktown to consider staying for a couple of nights here for a truly unique experience.

Individual pole houses in a rain forest setting. Lovely and quiet except for the morning birdsong. The pool looked wonderful, but sadly we didn't have time for a dip.
