Great little restaurant situated at the bottom of a hotel with locally sourced produce. Capacity is quite limited so if you are keen I would suggest booking. Food was overall good but felt given such good fresh produce was available the flavours could have been toned down to bring out the fresh seafood. We ordered the scallops for entree which were quite impressively presented - dish was great but would have preferred no curry powder on the scallops. We then ordered the seafood linguini and fish of the day. Generous amount of seafood in the pasta which was nice to see although the seafood in most of the dish was a little overcooked. Unsure if they were cooked together with the pasta but was a shame to taste the scallops prawns and fish overdone. Mussels tasted nice and succulent though. My partner ordered the fish which he was very happy with (especially the butter corn barley the fish sat on). Fish was cooked beautifully also. We ended with the lemon tart which was a nice light citrus finish. Enjoyed the caramelised sugar on top. Overall a nice experience - probably expected a little more for the price but for a small operation it does well.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday here at Luz Restaurant lastnight. Started out with the scallops and salmon, followed by the pork belly, barramundi and wallaby for mains and finished off with the chocolate fondant. Every dish was a delight - I partcularly enjoyed the salmon and wallaby and my husband loved the fish. The chocolate fondant was a big hit for the kids. Service was also outstanding! We are from Sydney and will definitely return to Luz Restaurant when we visit Launceston again.

Incredible fine dining.I was researching the top 10 places to eat under trip advisor and somehow this restaurant popped up as a suggestion on the bottom of my screen even though it wasn't in the top 10.Seeing the great reviews I decided to book this for dinner during our weekend getaway to Tasmania.Wow - it was delicious. We ordered the Oysters - huge, the scallops, the pork belly, gnocci, charred greens, smashed potatoes and the chocolate lava cake.My hubby loved it so much he wants to come back. He said it was the best pork belly he ever had.I later spoke with the chef. He had worked in a number of Michelin Restaurants overseas including Nobu, Gordan Ramsay and another French one I can't remember the name of. No wonder it was so refined and like a work of art.Softest gnocci ever.I asked him how he cooked the pork belly entree and it is a 3 day process. He and his partner opened up in Launceston in December recently and with his experience he decided to experiment with his own dishes.Highly recommend

We were recommended this place from a local when I asked their favourite restaurant. Food and service were both exceptional. We had the gnocchi, broccoli and pork dish - could not fault it in any way.

If you love fine dining but also appreciate quiet and not pushy restaurants, then it is your best place for a dinner. There were maybe only 12 people eating at the same time as we did, meaning every meal was delivered looking and tasting great! Prices are on a higher end but worth it for a special night out.

Quaint and memorable restaurant serving authentic Tasmanian produce in a skilled way. Food was simple in the best way to let the produce speak for itself. The service was personal and warm. Will be coming back when back that way.

Everything was perfect. The service was outstanding and friendly. The chef came out of the kitchen and asked if we enjoyed the meals, and the food was simply perfect. It could not be better. The wallaby and ox were so delicious and on point. Moreover, the prices are totally reasonable for what you get at the restaurantIf you are looking for a nice dining experience, discover this hidden gem and enjoy the meals which the chef creates. You will not regret it.
