15 Charles Abbotsford Homestay

When I was in Quebec, I booked 3 nights to stay there. Just after paying, I received an email with all the information I would have liked to receive before paying because I knew I wouldn't have booked. There was no possibility of full refund. When I arrived at this place, I hated it because it was quite hot in the house no air conditioning, it makes no sense. My partner also wanted to leave but felt stuck there because we couldn't get a refund. Our sleeping area is in the back of a hallway with a fake plastic wall and a mini padlock. The bed is a double that fits just between the 3 walls with a mini table, a little useful fan and 2 lockers to put our things. We have to change ourselves in bed with very little space. The bathroom is shared with others and very dirty. He mentions cleaning it daily but that is not the case at all during our 3 nights. There are no complimentary toiletries as indicated on the website. If you take a bath forget it because you will have to pay 30$. The free lunch is very ordinary, nothing interesting we had to eat elsewhere. It would cost you 5$ to cook (ex:eggs) in the kitchen. $ 4 for the laundry room. The garden is tiny, there is a tent outside and one inside. I don't understand how a person can like to sleep there. I don't recommend this place at all. It is worth it to spend a little more money to get better. It cost us about 65$ a night to sleep in this hole. Worst hostel we visited. Never again.

Double rooms are not private rooms, rather a space with dividers and curtains between each bed. You have a private space the size of a double bed but definitely not a private room. No windows at all in any double room. The house is in decent condition, water pressure is good. Cleaners stay in 1 man tents outside. You will hear everything the people in other rooms are doing, the snorer across from me sounds like he's sleeping with me.

The place was not as advertised, the capsules were in a very small room with insufficient ventilation and hygiene to be sincere the place had a reallybad odour. No value for money.

They try to make a lot of rooms in a small area, our room was litterally a bed and a shelf. No space to put your things. We had to stand on the bed when we were changing our clothes. The rooms are not like on the pictures... It's a budget hostel, but too expensive for a room" like that.The good thing is the staff

Floorboards are super noisy, when someone moves, you know about it. But was clean, lockers provided for peace of mind, and a ripping spot.

Paid 250wk for a pod.Bring your own bedding, toilet paper, cutlery, esky and anything else you need to be comfortable. This is place is only good for somewhere to sleep. I was planning to stay for a few months/longer if everything worked out and I liked it.I chose a pod to stay in. There is no locking door or window, on the pod, it's just a curtain. It blocks no noise unfortunately, so I feel bad for the others in the house because of how bad I snore.The pod is a double size but there's a futon of single size inside it. Its very short too, I'm 5'1 and found it cramped and hard to stretch.Everything smelt of stale cigarettes, pillow was flat and very old. The blankets provided were kids sleeping bags and thin fleece blankets.No room in the fridge or freezer.Place feels like it's falling apart.The front door was never kept shut, always open. You don't know who's staying there or not since just anyone can walk in. The pin pad is pointless.Didn't look anything like the photos but I didn't have any other choice at the time.The atmosphere was bad. More then once I heard people threatening others/mumbling to themselves. Not a fan of the yelling or people wandering around the house in just a towel.No cups, cutlery or anything. Yes I looked in the cupboards.The bathroom is constantly wet. A bath mat would be an easy fix to stop the water from leaking out of the shower.On the plus side, the area is full of wonderful restaurants and is right next door to the tram and aldi/Woolworths and communicating with the owner was bad. He was prompt and polite. That being said I mentioned nothing to him that I said in this review because I saw the responses the other reviews got.Don't even mention I'm being fussy or that it's a budget stay. It's really not an excuse.

I really should have read the reviews beforehand. The pods are degraded from those shown in the photos with damage and scratch marks all over them. It is someones house with these bootleg pods made from cheap plastic in a side room. Every creek on wood and movement can be heard with no noise dampening anywhere, and the bedding is just a thin mattress, a tiny blanket and an old pillow. The curtain for the pod was just a torn sheet. The air was stale and the pillow smelt sickly. I woke up at 6am with a sore back. Guess I'm just being fussy"."

Clean, good service & a really good location. Staff were friendly & helpful & there was a really nice courtyard off the capsule room with a fountain, nice touch. Also the meals were cheap but quite tasty, thus the 5 star review. Good job guys, I would happily stay here again.

Very bad won't be going back says a free breakfast and you can't even have bacon and eggs. Lol you gotta pay for everything you use. The rooms are to small. And it's definitely over priced for what it is. They have put 5 beds in one bedroom and both sides of the beds have walls. I would not recommend staying here ever again.

Do not stay here. I wish I had read the Google reviews before coming here. Booked off Expedia where it was listed as a hotel" with photos that were SO misleading. When we entered the house it stunk of cigarettes with lots of people drunk downstairs. The room upstairs was a horror show with stains and marks all over every surface. We felt so uncomfortable we left instantly as we could not stay there. Notified expedia and expedia attempted to get us a refund but the "hotel" didn't bother to reply. This place mortified us
