A beautiful winery to visit. The first time I visited this place with family was 2016, so when we visited months ago it's a massive change (for the better) they made a small shop on the previous small room for wine tasting. This place a plenty beautiful areas to sit with a group indoor or outdoor it's a gorgeous place. And their wines... are something we will drive hrs just to get it. Love this place ❤️

We visited Shut the Gate Winery in Clare Valley and it was amazing! The wine selection was top-notch and our favorite was the smooth and easy-to-drink Negroamaro, which is an uncommon variety. The staff was also incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain all the different types of wines. Plus, they gave us complimentary cheese and crackers which was a nice touch. We would definitely recommend Shut the Gate Winery for anyone looking for a delicious wine-tasting experience.

Lovely wines, super friendly and hospitable staff at the cellar door. Great range of gourmet snacks in the attached shop. They were super helpful with recommending other spots to visit and also helped us get wine we had purchased elsewhere home to us in WA. Legends

Shut the Gate Wines
We had a very unpleasant experience at this winery yesterday. Maybe just a bad day in the office for one of the owners but still no excuse for that level of rudeness.We were harassed for eating cheese and crackers (purchased in their grocery shop) at the same table where our friends were tasting wines.There is no sign to say that food purchased on premisses can only be consumed outside and no warning from the staff when we paid for it.We were embarrassed and left quickly with no plans to visit this winery again.

Absolutely delightful!A great selection of wines for tasting and purchasing at reasonable prices.Select your own ingredients for a platter to eat in or takeaway and get expert advice from Jessica on the wines available.We opted for a meat and cheese selection with gourmet crackers and mushroom pate washed down with a bottle of 2020 Shiraz. It started raining outside so we took our time.Added bonus - our dog was welcome inside the cellar door!Highly recommended.

Our Host was very accommodating and knowledgeable on the wines and vineyards of the region. A great selection for our tasting, served in a relaxed, cosy setting.

A great cellar door and selection of wines. Cellar door manager was really friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the wines and Clare valley wine region. Will definitely come back next time in the area.
