I contacted the Extension Factory regarding an extension project for our family home. Design consultant Lew came out to discuss our plans and four weeks later he advised me over the phone ( after I followed up ) that the cost is slightly higher than expected. Mind you, it was 50%!He asked me about the cost of other quotes to get a feeling for the current market" and when I was hesitant to reveal he asked me in a disturbingly rude tone "Don't you want to tell me?"Significantly cheaper quotes from local reputable builders were put down as unrealistic and unprofessional. Assumptions like that only display your poor standards!Lew's first impression at our site visit was confirmed during that phone conversation. You should have a clear understanding of market conditions and fair pricing and act professional when interacting with potential clients

Completely unprofessional. They don’t pay their subcontractors. Their supervisors are far from adequately qualified. Unable to read and understand plans and have poor work ethics

Come with me on a journey dear reader...You'll start your Extension Factory experience with the design team and you'll be feeling pretty good about things. Communication flows, people want to talk to you. Of course; they have dollar signs in their eyes. After perhaps a few drafts you'll have a plan you are happy with. On to contract signing! This is where Extension Factory's knowledge really shines. They will modify every single penalty payable by the company to well below the regulatory recommended figure, whilst making sure the customer is on the hook for the maximum. (Late payments of $250 a week? Try $50.) Of course they'll hope you aren't paying attention whilst their designer sweet talks you through the signing. They'll mention Prime Costs, but not point out that they will only cover the lowest quality product available, so you'll just end up supplying the fittings yourself rather than pay 25% extra for the privilege.Oh well, you've signed. Lets get permits! The drafting team were the best communicators during the whole process. (Shout out to Lynn, always prompt on the emails.) At this point you will want to quadruple check the work drawings on hand, as it turns out they aren't very accurate. You'll need to correct all the mistakes in the written copy that aren't reflected in the drawings, as they don't seem to do this themselves. (Why do the prime costs not match the schedule I received? Why are my sliding wardrobes written as hinged?) Worry not, they'll attempt to invoice you for anything you miss later in the project.Your permit is here now! Time to build! .. Maybe. It'll take a month from moving out and making the house available to the slab being poured. You'll probably have some optimistic project duration like 8 months, so at this point you might be worried. Settle in, they'll take a full 12 months. You can use your $50 a week penalty payment on all the phone calls to your project manager trying to find out whats happening, because they wont be calling you.Now remember those drafting inaccuracies? Time to have some fun! Does your kitchen have an island bench? They didn't make an allowance for trenching the utilities through the slab. You've got tiles throughout? Well they didn't make an allowance for levelling the slab. A new roller door in your garage? It doesn't fit!Congratulations! You've moved in. At this point there are probably only 10 things remaining to be fixed. They will promptly send around their least qualified finisher" to do the patch up work. He'll come back 4 or 5 times because

Having watched A Current Affair, I was finally able to put to rest their disrespectful treatment when I rang them for a quote for an extension on our home. It was many years ago, but their insult has always stuck with me. When I explained what I was wanting and gave them my address, the person on the phone said people from your area

Appalling communication, substandard work, extensive delays, always shift the blame for their mistakes, never take responsibility. If I could give them zero stars I would. Stay away from them at all cost

Horrible. Had a leak, took months to get someone to inspect and patched. Was assured it was the right way to fix it which I doubted at that time. True enough it leaked again.Months later after contacting them that their fix started leaking again, was then sent an contractor to check which probably caused more damage to the leak. Absolutely unacceptable. Deliberately drag the warranty period. First thing they ask of us is to pay for a call out fee by providing them full payment details through email!? How is that even secure? I highly doubt they have any proper process with anything. Which is obviously shown through their lack of care and customer service. My suspicion confirmed that the whole extension done by them is probably sub par at best. Got my insurance to get a professional leak detection and was confirmed what the water proofing was not don’t properly from the beginning.Leaks to cracks and now the whole ceiling is sagging. We are just left on our own with a leaking bathroom for almost 2 years

Great experience with the Extension Factory! We are very grateful our extension was ready by Christmas as we can now enjoy more space to entertain our growing family. Our design consultant made the experience even better by keeping us informed at each stage. We recommend anyone who needs renovation work and/or an extension done on their home to use the Extension Factory.

We have seen quite few conflicting comments in the reviews and thought we should share our experience with Extension Factory. We just completed our extension (by building upstairs), and the journey was quite a rollercoaster ride.First, we got our plans finalised with the Designer… which was quite straight forward. The drafting team were very good (Shout out to Adrian Nittoli and Efi). Efi is very articulate and meticulous. Thanks Efi.We had quite a few challenges with the Building Permits initially... and once that got sorted out and the Permits were issued… Time to build!Excited!Well now that our honeymoon period was over… we assumed that the built going forward would just be an ordinary engagement. But then came along our Project Manager, Ashley Zinnow… honest, polite and tells it as he sees it.Even from the very first interaction he did not give us any false promises. It is not that we had an uneventful build... well in-fact the opposite of that.COVID, material shortages, trades shortages... and added to that mix rain (and more rain!!)And in the middle of this we had Ashley… calm... but we know he was working his guts off trying to somehow juggle around the scarce trades to complete as per schedule. He had the added pressure of us having to stay away and hassling him to lock-up so we can move back. (short term renting is always expensive)We did have quite a bit of water damages (due to rain).Initially it was a strange, deflated feeling... and we even started blaming the build timing… then once reason kicked in... we realised that there was nothing different the builder could have done. You need to build up... well you need to open your roof... and in-spite of the best efforts to tarp them up... water always finds a way!We are pretty sure we have annoyed the weather gods in our previous life... it was water everywhere.Ashley was quick to lock up the house to the best of his ability. Also, one amazing trait that came through was that he never gives you false promises... in fact he does the reverse... under promise and over deliver.Very easy to deal with … the amount of builds he overseas at the same time is over the top.Not sure how he does it. (I am sure Scotch has a big role in it somewhere!)Shout out to Angela Brown (Office Manager).. never was an email not responded to. Thanks Ange.We even once send her an enquiry late one night... and guess what... back came the response the very next minute. Our build was completed in under 6 months... this is including the Christmas shutdown... record time! Thanks Ash… to getting it done and not dropping the ball! Thanks a lot for making it so eventful...Will we do it again?... not in a million years… collected quite a few grey hairs!I will gladly recommend them... but do ask for Ashley Zinnow to manage your project.
