15min Walk up the Hill, it’s 500m to get the the top but up hill all the way. The steps make it very easy and there are seats as a resting stop throughout the walk.There is also a walk around the rim roughly 2.4km long which suggested is around 1hr walk around.Very calming view.

Mount Schank
Mount Schank is only dormant but it would not erupt for a while. The hot spot moved off shore, you get hot artesian water at Robe.I like the new limestone path to the rim, almost like stairs. There would be nice views from the lookout on sunny day, we got drizzle and wind instead.The path to the craters is deteriorated and slippery in wet weather. Turned back before reaching the small crater.The rimtop path is fine.

Even though the walk to the top almost killed me (not very fit), I have to say it was a rewarding experience. This was our most favourite thing to do while in Mount Gambier. Definitely recommend.

Took the kids up (5, 7 and 14 years) and they managed to walk up and around the rim as well (3.2kms in total). Not brave enough to walk down into the centre with the kids.Great views and a cool experience walking along the rim of a dormant volcano.I highly recommend this walk.Take water, wear hats and put sunscreen on.

The short yet steep walk to the top reward you with some great views and the walk around the rim is easy going taking in the extinct volcano and it’s surrounds. The symmetry of nearby farm fields and the dramatic views of changing light with rain and sun made this a highlight.

What a challenge! But so worth it. Nearly 1100 ‘steps’ to get to the rim. Need to be moderately fit and agile to complete the rim. Take trekking pole if you have one for ease of walking stunning views around the rim.

Nice good walk up to hill. Moderate level. Steps make it easier. Suitable for kids as well. The crater rim walk is more adventurous. There is a path to go inside the creator as well. View from the top is beautiful.

Moderate to difficult walk up the mountain, but definitely worth the views. Took the trail" down into the crater but was not maintained so terrain is difficult in parts"
