Wonthaggi Motel 3.5 Star Rating

Had an overnighter here mid May. Perfectly acceptable . Very clean rooms, quiet, the old red brick walls took me back to when I was a kid and would come to Melbourne to stay with my grandparents. Had a really good night's sleep here. Also across the road and Woolworths a short walk away

I'm glad I chose to stay here... surprisingly very quiet with main road not far away. (I am a light sleeper) The room was well presented, clean and smelt good, bed was normal-comfy-firm, basic freebies were handy. Turned out to be a very good choice to stay here for all these reasons... and only half a block away from the start of the Rail Trail (which is why I was here) :)

We enjoyed a comfortable, quiet and clean one night stay. Very handy being so close to the town and all amenities and eateries. Although there was a toaster, there were no plates or knives, so how can you use the toaster?

We travel a lot for work and stay in a lot of motels all over the country. There are 2 main things we look for.....cleanliness & comfort. Throw in a friendly welcome & value for money and this motel ticked all the boxes.

Quiet clean motel in the middle of town. Friendly helpful owner. Place is dated and can do with a make over. Peeling on some walls in bathroom which is not nice to see but apart from that the place is still in good condition and comfortable. A little on the dear side pricing wise. Perfect for overnight stop over or weekend away.

Beautiful place to stay. An older motel that has been tastefully modernised. Bed was super comfy and wasn't like sleeping on a rock. Staff were also super friendly.

The room was old and stuffy. The curtain had spiders in them of course I killed the spiders so they are not there now. The carpet needed to be cleaned. Very very hard to sleep so hot and stuffy. Couldn’t sleep with the air conditioner going. Doonas had no doona covers. There was a sheet then the doona then a sheet and then the normal sheet when we arrived they were all tucked in and were made to look normal. It’s was a mess in the morning. Well I won’t be back. I expect better than that for over $200 per night for a very basic room.Also a WARNING if you are prepared to tell it how it is and the owner doesn’t like it he becomes very nasty and arrogant and actually accused me of having an ulterior motive he needs to just get over it. There are many reviews similar to mine where he has acted the same.

The lady that checked us in was exceptional, she was very helpful and friendly and went out of her way to help us. The room was very spacious and clean and the breakfast was very nice.
