As others have stated, this service is very deceptive and misleading. The signage and advertising in local pubs where these are mostly located advertise that the first 30 minutes is FREE, then $5:00 for the hour after that, however all that changes once you actually present your credit or debit card to pay for it, as you are not advised of the $5:00 deposit. Whilst I appreciate and can understand that a “deposit” should be paid to deter damage and or theft, said deposit is not returned and is not “held” as they claim by the bank. The company takes the deposit as a charge and in my case, as in others, did not return/re-credit the amount. Typically I take my own charger but had forgot it on this occasion, but after speaking with the Publican, said establishment and others will charge your phone for free provided you are drinking and or eating at there venue and have your own plug/cable. At $10 for a 1 hour charge, this business won’t last long for the foreseeable future, especially given that many clubs/pubs offer free charging & such establishments should think twice before introducing the concept, especially for members.
