Great place to visit and to Fossick for GOLD (unfortunately we didn't find any) plus bring with you fly spray as the little buggers piss you off big time

Great place to take the kids. Do need a fossicking permit if you're going to participate in that activity.

There is a small area that has been incredibly heavily worked. It’s possible there is gold there, we tried a few pans and saw a tiny bit of color.When we visited there was very well nourished gentleman, in a faux ranger outfit (that seemed to be several sizes too small), taking time out of busy window licking schedule to take tour of people prospecting there, which made the whole area really unpleasant to prospect in.The road to access the site was in terrible repair.

Lovely place to quietly pan, we even found a few specks.No running water outside of the wet season.4WD not required, good dirt road access to site.No amenities, so take drinking water and remove all rubbish with you. Unfortunately we managed to fill a whole bag picking up after others.Remember to abide by the rules posted at the entrance, and get a fossicking licence before you head out.Thank you to whomever provided this area, it is much appreciated.

Smaller area than expected. We found some small flecks of gold on the first day. This was our first time fossicking.

A very picturesque area. We enjoyed sitting by the creek and having a go at panning. We'll be back!

My first time Fossicking at Thanes Creek - beautiful and peaceful!No Gold! But 2 rusty Nails and a 3inchWire not bad for the first day!
