Yarraville Swim Centre

The best swim school I’ve seen. I’ve sent my two daughters there since they were 4. We also tried MAC and others, the depth, breadth and friendliness of the staff and Teachers at YSC is in a different league.Don’t let the looks deceive you, it’s not as fancy as the big aquatic centres, but that’s exactly why it’s awesome. The pool chemicals are not as extreme, and the focus on technique and enjoyment is just perfect for kids.Overall if you’re interested in your kids learning all the strokes to a high level, there isn’t a better swim school in the west (probably east as well). It’s also great if you just want a get few laps in. Super friendly staff and casual environment.

My son started lessons not too long ago and was quite intimidated by the water and unable to swim and now he is just about swimming the whole length of the pool, is happily learning lots of strokes and feeling really confident. I am amazed at the quick progression. I am really grateful to Mark for teaching my son how to swim. I definitely recommend Yarraville Swim Centre!

Don’t let looks deceive you! It may not look like a luxury aquatic centre, but YSC provides high quality swimming lessons. Laura and Mark are so passionate about teaching kids to swim which is reflected in the quality of their teachers (my kids have never had a teacher they didn’t love) and programs to broaden kids’ water based interests (competition clubs, surfing, marine biology, etc.). Furthermore, the strong personal connection established with the families and greater community is fantastic, they’re a well loved local institution! They know kids, they know your kids: when to push them, when to give them space, and will get even very reluctant swimmers confident in the water. The atmosphere is always fun, focussed and encouraging!

My two girls have been swimming in the Yarraville Swim Centre for nearly 10 years, from unable to swim at all to being in the swim squat team, three time a week. We tried different pools in the area, but chose Yarraville Swim Centre at the end because of the pool facility, friendly, professional and highly-skilled staff, and the positive sense of community belonging. The pool water temperature always maintain at a comfortable degree. The pool has rubber flooring, soft and unique. Yarraville Swim Centre is a great community pool for all families and individuals. Thank you Mark for creating the pool for our local community!

Our two children learned to swim at this humble looking place with a great community vibe, progressing from not able to swim as a 3yo to squad level 9 yeas later! The owner and his team of friendly professional instructors are passionate with bringing out the swimming potential of every kid.

Yarraville swim school is unique! This place is so atmospheric. Originally a factory, it has so much character. If they made a swimming equivalent of the Rocky film, the training montage would be set here. Yes the roof drips from a few spots when it rains and it can be a bit steamy in warmer weather, but Mark the Owner has trained people to Nationals level. There is a great community feel, the staff know all the patrons by name and my wife and three kids swim there and love the place.

They really know how to teach you to swim at YSC! My kids progressed so much quicker than when they were having lessons at other more expensive commercialised swim centres. Shout out to the swim instructors and management team (Mark, Roz, John and Rebecca) who are always so friendly and helpful. The play swims before and after lessons are great too!

We've been coming to YSC for about 7 years and can't rate it highly enough. Our kids learnt more in one lesson than a whole term elsewhere. The quality of teachers is outstanding, and the team go above and beyond to teach swimming and also offer comps and snorkeling programs. It's not the prettiest place, but the quality of teaching is second to none!

We love this swim centre! The staff are so friendly and helpful, the teachers are brilliant. My three kids and I have come a long way in our swimming since joining a few years ago. We've also been along to the marine biology sessions run through the centre. My daughter and I had a blast and learned so much about our local marine life.

Old school swim centre run by incredibly helpful staff. Great place to visit if you're self conscious but the water aerobics classes are great. Shame that the pool itself is old and shabby but I guess that's its charm. Very well priced too.
