Sherlock Amplifiers

Been taking my amps to Dale for some 20 years. I wouldn't take my babies to anyone else, period. Whether it's my vintage or more modern amps, they always sound killer after they've been with Dale. Actually, Dale, I'll see you soon as I need to bring in my '64 Vox AC30 Top Boost.

Very happy with Dale's honesty and professional assessment of my Peavey Bandit which was diagnosed with a loose solder connection. That's exactly what the fault was. It was fixed for his minimum charge. Another repairer may have added some fluff into the fee. I would never have know any better. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sherlock amps.

Dale is nothing less than a pro master !! There is just no other way to put it. He has serviced and repaired my gear for almost two decades(half a dozen valve amps and one hifi amp). I am also a proud owner of a vintage 30 combo, great amp great tone, doesn't miss a beat.This Guy Knows his stuff!!

This guy really knows his stuff. My son went to several people before finding Dale Sherlock. It's not often I write a review but as I went with my son to drop off his amp, I was really impressed with his knowledge and ability to actually fix the amp. We spent a fortune with other people just changing the valves and basically doing nothing (but charging a fortune) and Dale found the issue straight away. Sherlock's a good name for him - he's like an amp detective!

As a Hi-Fi enthusiast it is hard to find somebody with the knowledge and expertise in this field. Dale was thorough with his diagnosis with the issue that I had with my Manly amplifier and was able to resolve the problems.I was very impressed with the turn around time of the repair.That's 6 stars from me !

In the current world of Youtube graduates it's so refreshing to work with a master of his craft. Over the last couple of years Dale has been servicing and repairing my touring amps and has always done so meeting each deadline with more than satisfactory results. I recommend Sherlock Amps highly.

Dale has been working on amplifiers for over 30 years and his immediate identification of failures and quick turn-around means your amp will come back with no issues, sounding great and in to time at all! Really reliable for those gigging with busy schedules, need quick fixes and you leave knowing that the guitar is going to be fine! I had a Marshall MA100C which had a re-occurring problematic reverb tank which I couldn't figure out for years and scratchy pots, which he fixed and helped me select alternative speakers to swap out for my old ones - I wasn't confident in doing so before as I didn't have the knowledge. A true gentlemen and top player in this industry in Melbourne! Also, his Sherlock FAT HEAD Amp Head is incredible! Highly recommend!!

Dale's expertise and craftsmanship is second to none. My 15 watt hand built amp is still rocking, 15 years later without any issues. I am sure that has alot to do with Dale sourcing the best components in order to get the best outcome. Not the cheapest, but you know the old saying is, you get what you pay for!" Brought my Fender combo amplifier to the Sherlock workshop after it was exhibiting some tube preamp issues. Dale informed me of some upgrades he could offer to improve the amp’s usability, I went for them and I’m so glad I did! He was able to solve the problem, and install some great improvements to this amp including a bypass switch all for a totally reasonable price.My next amp will be a Sherlock combo - it’s really worth having the best components and craftsmanship.

Dale has been servicing and repairing my valve amps for probably 20 years, including Rivera, Fender, and Mesa Boogie. I'm very happy with the high-quality work he does and his expert knowledge and advice. He's great at problem solving, and along the way he has done various mods as needed. I still have an early version of his Vintage Reverb 30 amp which is still going strong, and I recently purchased a Vintage Reverb 15 combo. So, I can highly recommend Sherlock amps from plenty of first-hand experience.
