Dave's Takeaway Fish & Chips
A must-visit when in PD. Fish and chips great, burgers have everything you need, Chiko Rolls (yep those are still circulating) nice and salty… but the potato cakes are the standout drawcard. Large as your hand, crisp golden batter with good layering of potato inside. Sold out late in the day for good reason.And Dave’s a good bloke for a yarn too while your food is prepared

Great family run place! We stopped here for fish and chips when all the “dine in” restaurants were closed (between 3-5:30). Dave himself was manning the counter and ”Mrs. Dave” was the chef in the kitchen. Not being familiar with Australian fish (Baramundi and Red Emperor) Dave gave me a lesson on the attributes of each and how to tell farm-raised fish from wild-caught (they only use wild-caught). I wanted a white, flaky, “non-fishy” fish so Dave recommended the Red Emperor. My friend got the Baramundi. We both thought it was the best fish & chips we’ve had in a long time. Fries (“chips”) were perfectly crisp as well. It’s a take away spot but they also have three tables to sit outside and enjoy. Nice people and good food. Highly recommend

The fish and chips were really nice . Potato scallops were really nice and fresh and big too and the dim sim were good too. So all up it was really good and thanks to Dave takeaway fish and chip for making the best

This is our first fish and chips and our experience was very pleasant. Both Dave and Mrs Dave was very lovely to us. The fish was done very well and tasty!

More than just good fish and chips, this place is unique. The wall of Dave’s are a constant reminder of the shops local history and their commitment to the same values that they started with. A must visit if in Port Douglas.

Absolutely delicious beef burger ! I'm super picky and this one was perfect! Juicy tasty and a great size and the chips well the chips were so yummy that chicken salt is mouth smacking ! And not to mention Dave " is super friendly and such a good bloke. Thanks to Kylie and Dave for recommending us ! Yum 10/10"

Thanks 10/10 hands down the best ‘Grilled Barramundi’ we have had in our lives, ‘NO Frozen’ Fish here. Hooray!! Finally a F&C Shop that’s willing to only have Fresh Fish on their menu. Wow what a difference it truly makes….& a an added bonus being great old fashion customer service too!!

We eat at Dave’s at least once a week because the service is great and the food is delicious! We also love the fact that they readily help the homeless around the area with a smile on their face. It’s sad to see the poor reviews that are left, for example “my dog could vomit something better”, what an absolute load of rubbish! These two beautiful people cook from the heart and their food is always fresh and ample in serving size.Definitely recommend Dave’s to everyone!
