Murasaki Tanuki Japanese Takeaway & Dine In
Been here many times and the food is always great. The wait time for the fresh fish is around 45min-1hour in busy periods. Seems like priority is given to takeaway orders instead of those dining in. Perhaps that is my perception or perhaps it was the waiter of the night apologising on behalf of the takeaway customers. For that reason, it’s a 4 stars from me.

Delicious food, friendly staff and simple ambience. Definitely recommend coming here but ensure you make a booking! Also, I recommend pre-ordering the chawanmushi. Soft, velvety and pleasing to the palate.

Finally made it hear after recommendations from my Japanese friends, very glad I did. Really nice authentic food and good value for money. A good if somewhat small range of Japanese alcohol and drinks. Not a huge place so I think booking is a good idea, the staff are really nice and helpful also. I'm looking forward to going back to try more of the menu

Love coming to this hidden away but extremely popular family business. Going into the restaurant transports us back to Japan whereby they greet and speak to each other in Japanese in a polite and mild mannered way. The food is always fantastic and all sushi and sashimi made fresh to order. During peak time you will need to be extremely patient but it is well worth the wait.

Authentic cuisine in a part of Melbourne lacking in Washoku. Prices not too bad, could go for easy snack, full on meal, or take away. Bustling place, people trying their luck non-stop. Wait staff happy to speak Japanese and also give out great advice. We sat outside which I was glad we did, inside seemed action-packed and many were eying our table! Easy parking too.
