Bare Island Fort
This place is terrific. It is by far one of my favourite places to go around Sydney. The sunrises and sunsets are magical, a perfect spot for a picnic. For photographers, this is like a candy store. Great restaurants around, beautiful beaches, showers, toilets, it's generally clean.Do yourself a favour and just check it out.I recommend going around sunset time. It's just amazing.

Bare Island Fort
Great island for an explore. Be extra cautious in strong swells as the waves may crash over the rocks depending on the tide. The fort on the island is only open for tours on Sunday - in March-2022 these were at 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.If the tours aren’t of interest you can still explore around the base of the island on the rocks - there are stairs to the left that allow easy access. Please be conscious of the tides and be extra careful in strong swell.Take your time to explore the rock pools and the beautiful painted cliffs. The island is perfect for a lazy afternoon and watching the sun set in clear conditions!

Very nice island. But you need a guided tour to enter the main part of Bare Island.

Bare Island Fort
Nice, but very windy place. Apparently you can dive around it. You can also go for a fort tour, but I did not have a chance to do that. Overall quite nice and atmospheric place.

Firstly, you need to be aware that the island is gated and locked generally. Access is by guided tour conducted by National Parks and Wildlife. Today we had a group of about 30, adults and children. Katie, our guide, was particularly child-friendly but informative when answering the adults' questions. It is a small island, so the tour only lasts about 45 mins. Well worth the few dollars charged. A beautiful place with an interesting history.

Bare Island Fort
An interesting place to visit. Easy to access with a nearby carpark. Visited it during the evening and the atmosphere is very nice - peaceful and quiet yet beautiful. There are some interesting spots to see the island from a different perspective. Do pop by if you happen to be around the area.

Island gate is close. Its only open for guided tour. But it doesn't mean you cannot enjoy the visit in the area. Its close to Congwong Beach close to the island and its not as busy as other beach in the area. Secondly you can walk to the bridge and take some awesome photos or or just go for a stroll with your family. I suggest Golden Hour if you want to take epic photos

Bare Island Fort
I've been visiting Bare Island Fort in La Perouse ever since I came to Sydney, and I must say it was an incredible experience! This historic site, located in the beautiful Botany Bay, is a true gem for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply exploring new places. The fort, which dates back to the late nineteenth century, is an almost completely intact example of coastal defense technology. The guided tour of the military fort and tunnels was fascinating, as we learned about the island's important role in protecting Sydney from potential enemy attacks. The location itself is stunning, and the footbridge connecting the island to the mainland of La Perouse offers breathtaking views of the surrounding waters. The waters around the island are also popular among scuba divers, and we even learned about the Bare Island anglerfish, which is named after the island!Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Bare Island Fort. It's a unique and educational experience that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for Australia's rich history and stunning natural landscapes.

You are allowed to walk around the island, except the middle part as it was locked and only opens on Sundays for short tours, which was a little disappointing. Nevertheless, the ocean view and the surroundings around the island were really beautiful.
