In early June I made my first visit to Centrelink, expecting it to be a disastrous experience with rude, uninterested staff. To my complete surprise, it was just the opposite. The receptionist and the lady assigned to my claim for the Age Pension were friendly and courteous. I must’ve copped a good day because the waiting time before being called was only 5 minutes. All my questions were answered competently. The consultant even uploaded the last two documents I needed straight from my phone. My claim is now being assessed and I expect to have a seamless progression from being employed to being a pensioner. To people who bag the staff- give them some slack. They are only human and if you’ve had a day of low-life’s upsetting the works and giving people a hard time, it is hard to always be pleasant and friendly. They are doing their best in a difficult environment.

Went to site first time ever @ Centrelink. No Appointment, reception friendly and informative, was seen in about 30-40 minutes, Understandable. Saw consultant and answered all my queries and helped with forms. Took 15mins All in All very efficient and painless experience....Thanks

I went to Centrelink for the first time this morning, and I was expecting to wait forever and be greeted by horrible people based on other reviews, yet this was not the case!I went there at 8:30am (opening) and was seen in less than 30 minutes. The staff were absolutely lovely, engaged me in conversation, and extremely helpful! My claim was lodged and I left in a pleasant mood! :)

Terrible place to go. The staff are lazy rude unhelpful uneducated snd hostile. They don't want you to go there and keep saying to phone their Helpline or go to the website. Terrible terrible experience that will take me weeks to recover from. If you really must go there please take a friend or family member for support. Awful awful awful place.

I really appreciate all that centrelink have been doing but can centrelink please get their phones fixed. No number for payment available. Everything else im not interested in. The operator cant understand a word im saying. I have no choice now but to go down to the office. All i wanted was to ask one question as i have been paid differently. Can the operator seriously not understand fortnightly pay"? No."

Paid Medicare bill girl named Anna Marie very polite. Even to elderly clients. Told her she said I’m new. I said keep it up don’t let people get to you. I work also in federal government and some staff are so set in their ways is a polite term. Basically they have been in the job for 20 years or so and are bitter. Should’ve get out just taking money and super. Government should do refresher course and listen to the good staff. Taking truth this is worldwide. Humanity one planet.

Gave me a number to call, but the number doesn't even work. The one time I've been successful in getting through to someone, it was after being put on hold for over an hour.The wait always seems to be long and everything always seems to be needlessly complicated.They also need to do something about duplicate accounts, which are way too easy to create and you don't realise you've created one. One staff member said it was very common and they had someone accidentally create over 20 duplicate accounts. The process needs a few tweaks to say the least!I'd give them 1 star, but the staff have been nice in my experience and I don't envy their position, so good on them for their effort.
