We found a block of land that was on the side of a mountain that no one wanted to buy due to the difficulties building on it. We loved the location and outlook so we explored the possibility of building our home on it.We didn’t know any builders so we did what anyone would do and asked some of the ‘large well respected’ house building companies to advise us about building on this land. None of them were willing to build a house or if they were they suggested the cost of building in such a location would be so high it wouldn’t be worth it. We were devastated, dream shattered.About 6 months went by and this same block of land kept popping up in our searches. It was around this time a friend suggested a builder who built his house and said it wouldn’t hurt to get him to have a look. The builder was Chris Reissig. From the moment Chris met with us on the ‘side of the mountain’ he was 100% certain we could build a house on it and even though yes there would be some extra expense involved he also suggested we show him the house plan we have in mind and the budget we have and he would “see what he could do”.We did exactly that and from the quote Chris gave us and the confidence he had that building a house in this location was possible we put in an offer on the land and purchased it.Based on Chris’s advice we spent 12 months or so preparing the site to fit our new home. We took this amount of time because we didn’t want to start our build until our youngest had finished high school, at our then current location. Ironically during this time the house site was starting to look a lot better and we had builders approach us as they were now suddenly willing to build in this location!Once we had handed over the site to CRB to start our build the whole process was handled by Chris and Emma from start to finish. And I mean the whole process behind the scenes from planning, drafting, engineering, approval and of course the actual build.During the early planning stages we went back and forth a few times making changes and getting extra quotes to assess different variations and nothing was a problem.Even the fit out and color selections were easy and again we were able to choose anything we wanted, even items outside their standard selection range. Nothing was a problem. It was as simple as choosing anything you want in the color or style you want and if there was a variation in the price it was a simple process. To our surprise, out of the many different things we changed some of them came in quite a lot cheaper so the ‘variation’ is exactly that, it can be either way ;)The house build itself went as expected. Sure due to the location ‘on the side of the mountain’ we had a few engineering changes but again nothing was a problem and it was sorted quickly and easily. And finally, how’s this for integrity. Our land was very very rocky so we asked to have some extra money built into the build quote to cover any rock blasting or outside incidentals when they came up. When the house was finished Chris and Emma advised us that they didn’t need to use any of the extra money and credited it back to us!We couldn’t be happier with our house, the price was very competitive, the build quality and fixtures were high and the whole process was very easy.A great local company.Danny and Michelle Gelston, Dilston.
