Figure Eight Pools
Lovely walk even without the pools. There is a newish car park which makes it very easy to access and the path is very well marked. It’s about an hour each way if you are a good walker and the section along the rocks is easy enough. Be sure to time your visit at low tide. We were lucky to have the pools all to ourselves for about 30 minutes and there were only 10 people there at most but low tide was 6:30 pm and we arrived around 4:30 pm. It takes about an hour to get there from the city so it’s a nice half day trip and a great intro to the Royal National Park if you have not already been there.

It's a 9 km walk from Otford station to the Figure 8 pools, between woods, panoramas, beach and rocks, and if you're lucky even some wild animals. Get prepared for trekking, but in an easy track. Totally worth it, the pools are out of these world. Don't forget to bring lots of water and food, and check the tide before going! The Figure 8 pools are not reachable in high tide!!!

It’s an amazing place and one mine favorite place as well. It’s really amazing like naturally beautiful and beautiful views and mostly people go for hiking and swimming in the 8 shape pool.Maybe I’ll visit again.

Figure Eight Pools is located on a dangerous rock shelf in Sydney's Royal National Park near Burning Palms Beach. Plan your trip using the wave risk forecast. No doubt this place is incredibly beautiful but there are some risks involved. It’s a very long walk full of rocks, waves and reptiles on the way. The pool is such a perfect figure 8 that its almost surprising its naturally formed and it was worth visiting. It's a long, hard 6km walk on a steep track in a remote area. The walk takes 2 hours each way.

This hike was approx 6.5km and took us 2 hours in total including photo and swim stops. We first stated at Garawarra Farm where there is a fair amount of parking and made our way down, the boardwalks were amazing, views spectacular and it was fun walking on the beach and rock hopping once you got down. Be aware it’s very steep with some stairs also and very exposed to the sun. You can only visit the figure 8 pools on low tide so before you come check the tides, we were just on the edge of the high coming up and the waves were crazy! This is one of the coolest shorter hikes in the Royal National Park, the figure 8 pools were astounding, such a great natural feature and fun to swim in too! There is a $12 daily fee to get into the park also.“Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

I went here today. Luckily no rain and low tide. The paths to figure 8 pool are quite rough so watch your steps carefully. Not suggesting for bringing children. The scenery is great !

It's an incredible experience! It is made simpler because an excellent footpath has been developed to access the area. It takes 50 to 60 minutes to walk there, and 1 hour 30 to 2 hours to return. I suggest everyone to go there on low tides.

This is one very nice hike at the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Royal National Park. Before you start to hike, you should consider:1st: Look for the tide at Royal National Park home page. The hike is possible at low tide only. When the water becomes too high, things are getting dangerous, the force of the water is serious.2nd: Have suitable shoes. Hiking boots or trekking boots (minimum!) are recommendet. I have seen people in flip flops and sandals... and bleeding feet. Especially at the coast it's not just walking in the sand, there is a quite long rocky part of the hike.

Love this place!! If you like nature you would love to do a hike all the way to figure 8 pools. One of the coolest things I have seen. Check the photos online, they are amazing.Only downside is that if the tide is too high the figure 8 pools are not visible and can also get a bit dangerouse since there are not lifeguards around.
