I have worked with Sam Hall in Adelaide for the past 40 weeks for strength coaching/powerlifting which started off the back of a back injury. I was looking to get my confidence back in my own movement and in the gym. Over the past 40 weeks I have built my strength, physique and confidence to levels that I have not seen for years and I am very grateful for Sam's expertise and guidance. He is a phenomenal professional and a brilliant person to work with. Cannot recommend enough.

I completed online coaching with Sam from Ethos plus travelled interstate and did a powerlifting comp here and the entire experience online and face to face was incredible. The entire team is so knowledgeable and supportive and the community is welcoming to every body! Would highly recommend working with team Ethos especially if you want to get strong and feel supported whilst doing so! - Sally.

Ethos is such a great place to train for a lot of reasons. Great equipment, great location and a real feeling of support from the get go. I have trained with Sam, Dennise and Josh and benefited a lot from their knowledge and experience. You can do online or in person coaching and there’s always a good crowd present for lift club. There’s a real focus on lifting being for everyone and it’s visible in the different ages present- which just adds to the inclusive ethos.Having trained strongwoman and powerlifting before and come out of it pretty disillusioned about the lifting space in general it’s been epic to have some limiting ideas challenged and new ways of both training physically and mentally set in place. If you’re thinking about trying out powerlifting in Adelaide I can’t recommend Ethos strength highly enough.

What can I say, Sam has built a wonderful community of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. He’s management team of coaches are all wonderful and knowledgeable and they do what it takes to help their clients.Becky the Administrator is wonderful in assisting with membership queries and is approachable in person if you ever need assistance at the gym.My 1 star drives from the disappointment in Sam who decided to unjustifiably remove me mid session mind you from his gym due to the fact he did not appreciate me disagreeing with his own personal agenda. Sam spoke with me and told me I was only being lazy and inconsistent with the programming provided to me and so I replied to Sam and said to him that no it was not because I was lazy it was due to the fact we unfortunately did not get along with each other. I said him that I am with another coach who I get along with better and that to him did not sit well that he had to remove me from his gym.His reason was because I disrespected him with the way I communicated however nothing negative nor any name calling came out of my mouth and if you asked anyone that knows me would say I come off as Friendly as they could get. And I wasn’t being disruptive or destructive in my session either.I am just very very very VERY disappointed to the point I’m just plain flabbergasted. In any case, I tried to reason with him as he was telling me to leave and he told me continuously to leave - I spent a few good minutes trying to understand why I was being told to leave from his gym and he told me to go home and to reflect on my actions??It is so disheartening to see a wonderful gym community led by a man who does not effectively reason with you where you may have gone wrong and doesn’t take any alternate steps to help you. If you wish to be harshly criticised and enjoy having low self esteem then Sam is the coach for you.Above all else, I think Ethos is a pretty good place to train as they’ve got a good variety of equipment which looks to be maintained well. But Honestly heartbroken that I was told to leave where I really think that I wasn’t in any wrong :(

The last 8 months of starting powerlifting training at Ethos have made a tremendous difference to my life - and not just from seeing my squat, bench and deadlift numbers improve massively - but from becoming part of an incredibly supportive and inclusive community of people. If you are looking for a new powerlifting gym in Adelaide I would highly recommend the 'Lift Club' classes, the coaching by Sam, Dennise and Josh is excellent and the workouts are suitable for anyone regardless of experience level.

While my time with Sam as my coach was unfortunately cut short due to external circumstances (nothing to do with Sam), i found that he is an absolute legend, super knowledgeable and patient with progress. Sam also puts a really large focus on your mental state and try’s to keep your attitude positive. Furthermore when i unfortunately had to part ways with sam for external circumstances he was extremely understanding and gave a classy response. I would highly recommend Sam to anyone.

I have trained with Sam and Denise for 1.5 years and they are awesome, it's a great community and I've always felt welcome there. The equipment is phenomenal and the location is really convenient. It's sometimes hard to find gyms as a woman that don't feel intimidating and crowded, and Ethos is neither of those things.

Really great Gym and even better community. It’s really refreshing to be a part of a gym that is built on creating a culture where members can feel supported and are personally educated on how they can maximise their own performance. As someone who signed up in March, my lifts have improved immensely, I’ve had the opportunity to compete, and I’ve met some amazing people. If you are looking at getting into powerlifting or taking your strength to the next level, look no further than Ethos.

For anyone who is new to powerlifting or looking for a friendly, welcoming and supportive gym in Adelaide ethos is the one for you. I was really nervous when I first started with Sam and when I finally had the guts to do a lift class but they were put to rest very quickly. Sam, the ethos team and members all make the gym feel like comfortable and all are so supportive whenever your in the gym.

I started training with Sam 5 years ago and it was the first time I’d ever seen real sustainable results. He truly cares about your progress and is constantly learning and applying new techniques to give you the most effective training possible. He’s created a great community at Ethos and I couldn’t recommend him enough, he’s the best in the business!
