I sang in cover bands for several years (without any formal training), then changed direction, developing a more classical repertoire, including opera & music theatre. In 2016, I started studying with Kathleen, who helped me explore my vocal range, and focused on improving my singing technique, which enabled me to become a more versatile singer.Kathleen has an amazing depth and breadth of knowledge, and has tapped into that to help me define and achieve my personal goals. She can move between taking that 'big picture' view of what I want to accomplish, and then focus right in on a specific area that needs work. This includes the core vocal muscle movements, breathing techniques and tonal aspects. I make tangible improvements with every lesson.I now sing with better quality, less effort, improved posture and renewed confidence (and I've conquered some bad habits along the way!). She has guided me, so I can choose repertoire that suits my voice type, and has given me invaluable technical advice. Through her I've met some wonderful performers and we enjoy showcasing our achievements together.Overall, I am extremely happy with the results.

Kathleen has a very gentle and encouraging approach to teaching. Her warmth and obvious dedication make her a breeze to work with. She takes the time to listen and tailor the classes around her students goals and isn't afraid to make you work hard. Her teaching style has you considering the whole body as an instrument and she will always find a way to challenge you whilst ensuring you don't forget your strong fundamental techniques.

With my acting background, I could more or less sing in pitch, and I’d had a few lead roles in the amateur musical scene, so I thought I had some understanding of how to sing. At my very first lesson with Kathleen, I realised just how little I knew about the foundations of the singing technique. Working with Kathleen, I’ve unlearned the bad techniques I had taught myself, and replaced them with good techniques. Kathleen is such an encouraging teacher and has filled me with more confidence in myself and my voice.

I have been working with Kathleen for almost two years now and she is truly an outstanding teacher. I have seen my singing improve and I have been able to expand my repertoire with Kathleen's expertise.On top of this, Kathleen's approach to lessons means that learning is not just confined to lesson time. I have been learning singing with Kathleen for 12 months now. I started as a complete beginner with no experience in singing, despite having a musical background. 12 months of practice and lessons later, I have a beautiful singing voice I am proud of. Together we have worked to develop my tone, resonance and learned vowel shapes and consonants. I have learned the proper technique to avoid vocal damage and I have been able to sing for longer without strain. I have even extended my range beyond what I thought was possible for me. She creates lessons catered to my specific needs and skill set and is patient and encouraging. The city studio is spacious with city views and is a great learning environment. I am excited to keep growing my singing with Kathleen in the future.

Kathleen is a fantastic teacher who has really helped me to rediscover my love of singing. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
