What a delightful moment spent at Leonards Mill. This historic old mill is located on a beautiful property in second valley and it is absolutely stunning and definitely worth a visit! Hayley (the owner) is absolutely charming, she took really good care of us, she was so welcoming, explaining us every dishes and wines, it was just perfect! We absolutely adored the chef feed me menu, so delicious, so colourful. Everything was fresh, local, beautifully prepared and presented. Each dish was a surprise and we enjoyed every single bite! There was also a good selection of local wines and beers and we discovered a few little gems. We also stayed the night in one of Leonards Mill historic cottage, so we could fully enjoy this beautiful experience and the staff was so accomodating that they even prepared a platter for us for our dinner that we enjoyed on the beautiful deck as the weather and the view was so lovely. The cottage was cosy and the bed very confortable, the bathroom has just been renovated and we had such a lovely time that we will make sure to come back again!

A lovely rustic restaurant with excellent staff. All dishes were made from local products and the variety of alcohol drinks were lovely as well. Although the distance to get there was rather far, it is a rewarding experience. My friends and I were given a complementary cheese assortments (brie, blue cheese and gouda) palette, it had dried appricots and 3 types of jams. It was delicious, I'm sorry I didn't take a photo of it, I was too excited for the cheeses.

163 year old mill !Beautiful location, great ambience, and yummy food !We were served by the lovely Hayley who was extremely welcoming. Big thanks for the enjoyable experience and the delicious food !

We had the feed me 3 course menu. Overall very enjoyable. The entrees were really nice, in particular the rabbit gnocchi. The mains do have some room for improvement. For example, the fish curry could've come with a serve of rice or something to soak up the sauce. The desserts were really fantastic!

Has been a delightful experience… Awesome ambiance and great food. Very friendly and professional staff… An over night stay is also recommended, the accomodation is nice and cozy. Definitely looking to come back…

Visited in january 2017...was one of the most incredible dining experiences. The food was perfection...i hope they still have the carrots.. We will be returning again this year. I reccomend a long lunch outside on the deck. Great wine list! Cannot wait to go back***edit*** visited again in feb 2018 and it is still just as incredible if not better. Such a beautiful setting and the most beautiful food in SA!!***edit 2**** visited again in jan 2020 and as always an incredible selection of food. The current chef is amazing and the food is just perfection. Cannot recommend enough. Go..stay the night!!

You come here for the food and it is amazing. The produce is all locally sourced and fresh as can be. The staff were super friendly and all dishes explained in detail. You could see that some the staff weren't trained evident in their plate stacking approach to table clearance but that's easily fixed. The place itself is a beautiful old mill with old features left in situ. Unfortunately the fixtures and fittings don't match the quality of the food. In my opinion all the lighting, chairs and tables need replacing. If you're staying over in the accommodation it's ok for one night, nice and clean but take your own iron and coat hangers ! And beware the mattress is also very firm !

Came in on Friday for lunch to celebrate our anniversary. Immediately fell in love with the interior, a heritage building with cozy decor. We were warmly greeted by a friendly staff. We opted for the tasting menu, which at the time of our visit was the spring of 2018 and cost $70 per head. All the ingredients come from local farms; most of what we ate came from a farm 700m down the road!! Everything was VERY fresh, from the micro greens, which tasted like they were picked minutes before garnishing our duck, to the beef which melted in our mouths. All the flavours worked beautifully and each dish was unique. Portion sizes were perfect; it was enough to appreciate all the flavours on the plate, and more importantly keep us interested in the next dish, not overwhelming us with food. At the end of the meal we felt satisfied, and as I write this review two hours later I still feel full.We asked for a wine to go with our meal, and were recommended an excellent dolcetto that paired well. I’d strongly recommend to trust the establishment, let go of any preconceived notions and just enjoy the experience of excellent, local produce cooked beautifully.A warm thank you to the lovely FOH that looked after us and the skilful chef.
