The house where a former Prime Minister of Australia, Joe Lyons was born. Lots of period pieces and informative books, articles and reproduction of his life and death. Yes, he died in office, much respected and mourned.A very interesting museum, certainly worthy wiling away some time and learning of a respected Tasmanian politician.

I didn't have high expectations, but was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed visiting the cottage where Joe Lyons was born. What really made the difference for me was the wealth of information on display about Joe Lyons, his very humble early life, and his steady progress up through the ranks of political life to become Prime Minister. Joe Lyons'family has generously donated materials and information which I had not seen on a prior visit to Home Hill (the Lyons family home in Devonport). Information is well laid out for visitors and the volunteers are very friendly.

Interesting cottage that has been restored to its original state with plenty of old photographs and furniture. Opened by friendly and knowledgeable local volunteers.
