Change of mind, NOT no worries. They have a sign at the checkout that says ‘change of mind, no worries’ however when you try to return an item, it’s only ‘no worries’ if you accept the fine print in their returns policy that even if the product is returned as it was purchased the day prior, with all labels attached, and proof of purchase, they may chose not to refund your money and provide you no other explanination for this other than that option is made available to them by their store return policy. They will then however graciously advise you they will only let you exchange the item, or give you a time limited store credit for the items purchased price.In 2018, I was surprise to find such an archaic store policy still in existence, which in my own opinion only demonstrates this store’s true level of confidence in not only their products, but their ability to provide the most basic level of customer service expected by the modern consumer.I reluctantly accepted the store credit, and will also reluctantly use my store credit to make my final purchase at this store, as I consider it is the better of the two miserly options Kathmandu Charlestown have chosen to enforce upon me. Whilst I have no issue with the several products of theirs I already own, I wil not return again whilst their store policy treats it patrons with such disregard.And to ‘Kathryn’ the store clerk who ultimately decided I wasn’t entitled to a refund; some empathy, goodwill, or effort to find an amicable solution for customers, other than your smug enforcement of store policy, would go along way to building quality relationships with store patrons, thus ensuring their continued patronage, and in turn the ongoing success of your employers business.

Kathmandu Charlestown has friendly and knowledgeable staff. They are always helpful and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. A great range of gear available.

The two stars are for a lovely sales person that has served me in the past here. Brunette lady. Yesterday I overheard a customer being told about the upcoming winter sale and how good the prices are. We need 3 new down coats for a trip to New Zealand this winter (plus the rest), and when I asked about this also, 'the store manager' as she smugly introduced herself as, refused to discuss it with me.Well, due to your sneaky sales tactic, and rude attitude you have just lost a significant sale. Having to outlay for 3 down coats for my family is expensive and a little respect for the financial pinch on people right now would go a long way. Instead, you chose to react to my question with an undeserved self important smirk and reply.I hope your sales stats reflect your pathetically poor attitude towards customer service, and I certainly hope your regional manager reads this, as there are other staff in this store more deserving of a management position.

I find it a little expensive but that’s what you get here. They only sell the best quality
